History and Facts about Thomson Airways
Thomson Airways initially was Euravia which later on, renamed to Britannia Airways after two years. However, in 2005 the airline was rebranded to Thomsonfly. The merging of First Choice and Thomsonfly changed the name of the merged airlines to Thomson Airways in 2008.
merge jointThe world’s largest charter airline and third largest UK airline in 2013 has a fleet size of 60, headquartered at Wigmore House in Luton Airport with 17 operating bases and serving 96 destinations internationally. The airline joint alliance with TUI Group in 2008, which on 2018 will be renaming with the name “TUI” together with other 5 airline subsidiaries of the group. Thomson Airways’ logo is a stylized design for the word TUI.

A female 50 year old, Ms. Chris Browne is the Managing Director of the airlines. She used to be an employee in the ticketing office of Iberia Airlines and was able to be General Manager in no time. However, in 1996 Ms. Browne moved to First Choice and 2002 marks the year she became the Managing Director of Thomson Airways.

Thomson Airways had gathered several awards in the past years and the most recent one was when they were honored as “World’s Best Leisure Airline” by World Airline Awards on June 16, 2015, and they had received this award for the fifth consecutive year.

Standard and Premium Class are two cabin classes of the airlines where customers enjoy a wide selection of international dishes, snacks and beverages available in their eatery menu on board. Customers are also allowed to bring their own meals inflight but airline won’t accommodate any reheating needs.

Inflight entertainment of Thomson Airways is the usual seatback audio video on demand system wherein passengers can play a selection of movies, TV shows, music and games. Inflight shopping is also available in this airline with range of gift and holiday essentials on sale and payable via cash or credit card.

Official Website and Mobile App
To be honest, I found the official website simple and not user friendl, the small fonts complicate me and the choice of colors white and light blue is not visible for it looks like tampered words all around the page. However, on a positive note the website provides customers the options to book flights, hotel reservations, cruise and villas rentals. The website also lets travelers to see the latest news, policies and inflight services of the airline.
Thomson Airways Reviews - mobile app
MyThomson, is the mobile app of Thomson Airways, wherein customers can access information and service pretty similar to the PC version. Travelers can check-in online, download boarding pass, edify their holiday checklist and holiday inspirational ideas. This travel app is available in the App store and Google Play store.

Thomson Airways Reviews of Passengers
According to some Thomson Airways Reviews, the airline is receiving a lot of complaints such as staff being rude and grumpy, uncomfortable seats, meals are not enough and lame delay flight excuses. It is really sad to read about these, that even one reviewer said:

“Dalaman to Gatwick with Thomson Airways. Economy is always cramped, that cannot really be helped. The plane was full up and I was unable to sit with my husband even though he is disabled and I am his official carer, we were told we should have checked in online. As my tablet was not working and we had no resort rep assistance I was not able to do so. This was very disappointing, and quite difficult for my husband.” He gave the airline a 5 out of 10 rating on the 13th of October 2015 according to

In The End
After scanning through several Thomson Airways reviews, I am not convinced with the airline’s consecutive awards as World’s Best Leisure Airline for their passengers are not satisfied with the airline’s time management and delayed flight reasons.   1. Worst flight ever. Over 2-hour delay. First, the water stopped working so they sent someone to fix that. Then we got down the runway and stopped and then were told there was a problem with the engine and had to go back to the gate. After the long delay, the water stopped working again in the air. To boot, flight attendants weren’t very nice either that sucks. Won’t fly Thomson Airways again.
