Origins and Ownership

Thai Airways International Public Co,.ltd is the flag carrier of Thailand. It was founded on May 1rst, 1960. Charamporn Jotikasthira was appointed as CEO by the Thai BOD (Board Of Directors) effective December 4th, 2014. He was the former president and CEO of the Stock Exchange of Thailand and he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Harvard University, U.S.A.

Most people concur that the ground service is excellent, but seat comfort and value for money is bad. For example, this one guy was complaining that his seat was not clean and it has an awful smell. So they don’t recommend Thai Airways, because for them it’s a lousy experience they’d rather not pass on to others.

The airline’s amenities include “THAI Sky connect”, that’s the name of their wifi connection. (Service fees are payable thru debit and credit cards).

Thai Airways awards frequent flyers with points that accumulate depending on which class you’re flying with as well as how far you go. Awards give passengers discounts on their flights, upgrades, discounts on hotels and vehicles as well as many other promotions.

And if you’re bringing a pet along for the ride, THAI offers “pet travel” wherein you can bring your pets on board but of course they will be loaded in an aircraft hold just beneath the passengers cabin but are of course afe and in a temperature controlled environment.


Thai Airways main hub is Suvarnabhumi Airport also known as Bangkok International Airport. It serves as regional gateway and connecting point for various foreign carriers. Its fleet size is 82 excluding Thai Smile and they are a member of the Star Alliance. They were awarded for having the Best Airline Staff in Asia (2014) by Skytrax.

Thai Airways offers the best for their clients but at the same time, the comforts of some of their clients are not that good. So I guess they need a little fix that and they’re good to go. Thai airways also ranks at 14th place last year but now, they’ve fallen down to the 19th place.

  1. The attendants in Thai Airways are the best, ground and on-board crew. Very friendly, fluent, attentive and polite, they would check with every children flying if they wanted something.
