5 World’s Deepest Caves

“We are not afraid of the dark, we are afraid of what’s in it.” If you’ll ask me Nyctophobia is not actually legit. Why? Because we are not actually afraid of the darkness, but we fear the unknown that lurks in the dark or what it hides. Our imaginations make up for our lack of ability to see through the shadows. Well, some say being rationally afraid of the dark is a severe disorder rooted from childhood experience and it’s cured by therapy.

Another fear we’ll be experiencing in this article is Bathophobia that came from the Greek word “Bathos” which means deep or depth. To sum it up, it is the fear of depth. Now, after my initial warning to readers who suffer from Nyctophobia or Bathophobia, let me introduce the 5 World’s Deepest Caves.

1. Sistema Huautla
Sistema Huautla

First in our list goes to Mexico with the record of 1,545 m (5,068 feet) deep. The name of the cave was originated from the town and municipality where it is located, Huautla de Jiménez. The cave expedition at Sistema Huautla started in 2014 and has been annually being explored to reach the goal of 1,610 m depth vertical mile by 2023. The expedition was by two non-profit organizations namely: The National Speleological Society and The US Deep Caving Team. The aim is to explore, survey, and conduct a comprehensive speleological study about the cave.

2. Torca del Cerro del Cuevón
5 World’s Deepest Caves-Torca del Cerro del Cuevón

This cave is located at the northwest part of Spain in Asturias. The entrance has an elevation of 2,019 meters above sea level. The entire tour to the bottom takes three days to lower to its record of 1,589 meters (5,213 feet) deep. Inside is an underground stream called Marbregalo river. Torca del Cerro del Cuevón was considered by many to be one of the most technically challenging descents on the entire planet.  For any adventurer looking for a tough and harrowing journey downward into the earth then you are at the right cave.

3. Lamprechtsofen-Vogelschacht
5 World’s Deepest Caves-Lamprechtsofen-Vogelschacht

The limestone karst river is located in Austria particularly in Salzburg with the record of 1,632 m (5,354 feet) deep. It was once known for being the deepest cave in the world, prior to the discovered Krubera Cave. It is only open for visit to the public at a depth of 2300 feet. The name of the cave was originated from a well-known knight “Lamprecht. The cave was discovered way back the 17th century and since then, the cave has been intruded by treasure hunters. Skeletons are found during explorations and are believed to belong to illegal visitors seeking the treasure of the knight.

4. Gouffre Mirolda
5 World’s Deepest Caves-Gouffre Mirolda

The deepest cave in Europe located in the municipality of Samoëns in Haute-Savoie (France). In 2003, an expedition had proved that Gouffre Mirolda was connected to the Lucien Coudlier measuring to a record of 1,733 m (5,685 feet) deep. By then the cave was known as the world’s deepest cave and also the first which was explored more than a kilometer down. However, the cave doesn’t hold either record anymore but is still considered as one of the deepest caves in the world.

5. Krubera-Voronja Cave
5 World’s Deepest Caves-Krubera-Voronja Cave

Our record holder for the deepest known cave is in the Arabika Massif of the Gagra Range of the Western Caucasus in Abkhazia (a breakaway region of Georgia). Voronya/Voronja in Russia means “crow’s cave” in English. The cave extends for 8,346miles (13,432km) and in 1956, French explorers first descended below 1 km (3,281 feet), since then cavers have dreamed of exploring deeper and had reached up to 2,191 km (7,188 feet) down on September 7, 2014. The Plutomurus ortobalaganensis, deepest terrestrial animal, was found living 6,500 feet below this cave.

As for reference, the Statue of Liberty is at 46 m (151 feet), while the Eiffel Tower stands at at 300 m (984 feet) tall. Being on the top to one of these world renowned landmarks will make you feel nausea. Just imagine how 1,545 m, 1,589 m, 1,632 m, 1,733 m and 2,191 m will be?

This article was just requested. Feel free to leave your topic suggestion, so we can entertain you further with more educational and factual articles.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning to visit the countries mentioned above, make sure to do your research first; also try looking to book your flights using online travel agencies as they tend to, on average, reduce airfare costs by about 43%, a few good ones being Flighthub.com, Travelocity.com, JustFly.com or Expedia.com.

Madrid–Barajas Airport Reviews

Madrid has been the capital of Spain since the 17th century. The name Madrid comes from the Arabic “magerit,” which means ‘place of many streams’. Madrid’s official symbol of the bear on its hind legs eating berries from the Madroño tree is a metaphor for Madrid’s growth and represents the possession and ownership of wood which is necessary for constructing buildings.

Madrid–Barajas Airport Reviews-Adolfo Suárez
Adolfo Suárez

Madrid is the capital of Spain and the main international airport of Spain and largest airport in Europe by size is located in Madrid, Spain. In this review, we’ll be talking about one of the most important aviation centres of Europe: Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD).

If you’ll notice, the airport is also known as “Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport.” And, you might be wondering who is “Adolfo Suárez.”

He was actually the first Spanish Prime Minister and following his death, the Spanish Ministerio de Fomento had announced that the airport is to be renamed Aeropuerto Adolfo Suárez, Madrid–Barajas. This renaming seeks recognition for Suárez’s role as the first Prime Minister of Spain after the restoration of democracy and his key participation in the Spanish transition to democracy after Franco’s dictatorship.

Aesthetics

Madrid–Barajas Airport Reviews-restaurantsMadrid–Barajas Airport has 3,050 ha in area which, just by imagining it, you can tell MAD is a big airport. But, getting lost is not an option since the airport has 20 information counters located throughout the terminals, and touchscreen kiosks in Terminal 4. More than 100 staff members are also on hand to assist passengers. Tourist information counters can be found in the arrival areas of Terminals 1 and 2 and the baggage hall of Terminal 4.

Restrooms don’t have a strategical location but there are plenty of restrooms throughout the 4 terminals of MAD. And, showers are available in the Air Rooms in Terminal 4, Floor 1.
Madrid–Barajas Airport Reviews-shop
There are more than 30 cafés, bars, and restaurants at Madrid Barajas Airport, distributed throughout the terminals. A selection of more than 100 shops can be found in the airport, including duty-free for passengers leaving the European Union. Items available range from local produce and souvenirs to jewellery and electronics.

To stay connected, free and unlimited WiFi is available and travellers just have to connect to “kubiwireless” network. Additionally, there are almost 100 internet points positioned within the terminals, along with several mobile phone charging points.

Getting To and From

If you are planning to drive your way to the airport: from the M40 (ring road) encircling central Madrid, head onto the A2 eastbound (in the direction of Barcelona) and take the exit at junction 10 to the M14, which leads directly to the airport. The total drive time from central Madrid to the airport is approximately 20 minutes.
Madrid–Barajas Airport Reviews-Metro Line 8
Though, public transportation can be an option as well. The underground Metro Line 8 runs from all airport terminals to the Nuevos Ministerios station in central Madrid. Also, several bus lines run from the airport to central Madrid, nearby locations, and the rest of Spain.

Please be advised that a free shuttle bus service connects terminals T1, T2, T3, and T4, 24 hours a day.

Location – Traffic – Service

Madrid–Barajas Airport is situated 12 km (8 miles) northeast of Madrid and serves as the primary hub for Air Europa and Iberia. The public international airport of Spain has 4 terminals and runways that successfully accommodated 46,828,279 passengers last year.

Madrid–Barajas Airport Reviews

Though, Madrid–Barajas Airport reviews are showing a different comment with their overall experience at the airport. You can’t blame them for being a large airport; it can’t be that 100% organized since the volume of passengers is high everyday. Moving forward, based on 236 Madrid–Barajas Airport reviews posted on Skytrax, the airport gathered a total rating of 4/10. On a positive note, the most recent feedback says the MAD is not too crowded and clean.

Overview

Madrid–Barajas Airport actually ranked down to 31st place this year on The World’s Top 100 Airports (being 27th last year). Though, even after writing a review about them and seeing their customers’ feedback, it is safe to fly with MAD. Again, we shouldn’t expect much since the airport is one of the busiest airport in the world as well.

Air Europa Reviews

Air Europa Reviews-Juan José Hidalgo
Juan José Hidalgo

Air Europa’s story started initially as Air España SA in 1986 (registered in Spain) as part of the British ILG-Air Europe Group and was 75% owned by Spanish banks. They had a similar livery with Air Europe, but were able to create their own name in time. It was the first Spanish private company to operate national scheduled flights. Air Europa has been a member of SkyTeam since 2007.

Moving forward, Air Europa uses the slogan: “Your travel companion” with a fleet size of 59. The Spanish-based airline serves 44 international and domestic routes and follows codeshare agreements with Aerolíneas Argentinas, Korean Air, Etihad Airways and Air Serbia. Globalia owns (100% of) Air Europa making its Chairman, Mr. Juan José Hidalgo, the CEO of the third largest airline in Spain (next to Iberia and Vueling).

Flying with Air Europa

Air Europa provide scheduled network throughout Spain and to destinations in Asia, North and South America, Caribbean, Europe and North Africa with two cabin classes: Economy and Business.

Air Europa Reviews-Economy ClassEconomy Class – passengers are not being provided with low quality service in this cabin. Instead provided with good space between seats and baggage allowance with with a maximum weight of 23 kg. Food varies in between European and famous Spanish cuisines. Dietary meals are also offered. Quality entertainment is by offering a range of national and international newspapers and a selection of magazines. Inflight shopping catalogues are given as well.

Air Europa Reviews-Business Class

Business Class – passengers are given the utmost support and assistance at all times. Since in this cabin class, customers are given a different kind of privilege with VIP insurance assistance, access to VIP lounges, exclusive check-in desks, baggage handling and unloading, four course meals served on air, plus ergonomically-designed seats. Inflight entertainment offers customers a wide selection of newspapers and magazines and an advanced video system with extensive content.

Official Website and Mobile App

Is this Windows 8 or 10? None of the above. The official page of Air Europa was carefully designed to entice travellers to give them the impression of a modernized business with calm effect. The blue-themed site shows flashing images as background for several top destinations in the world. Scrolling down gives more information about special assistance of information over special services and the frequent flyer program, Air Europa SUMA.
Air Europa Reviews-page
The page doesn’t end there and the bottom part provides more about the airline’s services, social media accounts, policies and contact information. Air Europa doesn’t let customers book flights, but also offers car rental services for transportation purposes. Travellers can also check-in and manage their booking online. Air Europa Reviews-mobile appThe site can also be changed to 5 other languages aside from English.

Air Europa’s mobile or travel app lets customers book using their smartphones, seat selection, real time flight information, share and obtain boarding at the palm of their hand. In a nutshell, it’s the mobile version of their PC services. Available on the
App, Play and Windows Store.

Air Europa Reviews of Passengers

However, given the generosity of the PC and inflight services of the airline, based on 221 Air Europa reviews, they scored an overall rating of 4/10 which means there are more negative reviews more than the positive ones. Guess all was explained when we checked on Skytrax, the most recent posted are complaints with 1/10 feedback. To actually see these Air Europa reviews, click here.

Conclusion

It is hard to think this airline had garnered below average Air Europa reviews. Are they just another pretty-face travel company or are customers just not being appreciative with what they provide? But compared to other airlines, I think Air Europa is worth the shot since it’s good at maintenance. Maybe they just need to fix some loose ends and be a little more understanding to customer’s comments.

Hotelius Reviews

We are all aware that looking and booking online for a desired hotel reservation isn’t as easy as it was 10 years ago. Several hotel sites are now showing from side by side of travel industries. This makes travellers more confused which of which are legit and scammers. In this review about Hotelius, we’ll try to designate where this Spanish hotel booking site is part of.
Hotelius Reviews-support
Hotelius doesn’t have a deeper meaning when we tried to check the term itself. The hotel booking site was founded in 2003 and was supported by the two business giants in Barcelona: Hotusa Group and Grupo Planeta. Hotusa is a unified tourism sector group while Grupo Planeta is a media group. The Spanish travel site searches from 40,000 hotels to provide offerings from the best hotel chains and independent hotels.

How does Hotelius work?

Well, as mentioned above, the Spanish-based hotel booking site lets customers search for their preferred hotel destination by entering their check-in and check-out date, number of rooms and nights. This option shown on the main page will direct travellers to a search result page with the list of hotel availabilities for the selected credentials. However, when I tried to search for a hotel for 4 nights as 1 adult, it only gave me an error message “404 – We could not find the town you were trying to access”.
error
Hotelius Reviews-search optionIn the first place when I was searching, it gave me a search option. They shouldn’t have provided an option if the town is not available. Waste of time.

Hotelius has subcategories shown at the top right of the page, which include beach, mountain and boutique hotel bookings. Customers can also manage their booked accommodations online. Hotelius site has 6 versions interchangeable from English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese (since the site is in Spanish by default).

Hotelius Reviews of Customers

According to scattered Hotelius reviews showing online, the hotel booking had received mixed feedback from consumers. Some customers are complaining about prices posted being faked and not true, while others are frustrated how their customer support handle a cancellation or refund. Often times we stumble on Hotelius reviews, which generally talk about hidden fees and double charges on their bank statement. These instances only prove that Hotelius can’t be trusted unless they get their facts right.

  • Head Office Address:            Carrer de Mallorca, 351, 08013 Barcelona, Spain

Overview

Judging through Hotelius reviews and its services, I won’t even recommend this site for your hotel reservations. Hotelius was established 13 years ago. I guess being in a business for 13 years was enough for them to improve but instead they were not using this time to exceed but rather fool customers to a bait where they spend more than save per booking.

Have you book with Hotelius before? Feel free to leave a comment below.

Travel2be Reviews

I was trying to search for a particular flight on Justfly, till I stumbled upon this Spanish-based travel site. It quickly piqued my curiosity since it offers a very low airfare deal. The purpose of this review is to check the credibility of Travel2be and see to it if the prices shown and offered on their site are 100% legit. Shall we trust Travel2be? Well, let’s find out.

Travel2be Reviews-travelgenioTravel2be is recently being compared with Travelgenio, since both of them are from Spain and the performance feedback are the same. To be honest, Wikipedia doesn’t even have an information regarding Travel2be and there were only limited information about the travel site online. The only biography about Travel2be is found on their page, at the “General Information: About Us” section.

In which this section only denotes they were sharing their 15 years of experience in tourism and modern technology. A travel company composed of passionate travellers and they even mentioned:
“We have dedicated our lives to what fascinated us the most: “to be and to make travellers”

PROS?

Travel2be looks very simple, but don’t be deceived. In the past, we learned that majority of not modernized website pages often are little early signs of illegit travel companies. Travel2be uses turquoise as their color theme, which makes the overall page mood calm and relaxing. However, I am having difficulty reading some of the content or displayed information since the contrast between grey and white is not a good option to use as the primary colors on your main page.
Travel2be Reviews-page
On a positive note, what I noticed below, Travel2be site can be changed to 27 other languages and as for payments via credit card, they accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Diners Club一as obviously shown on this screenshot:
Travel2be Reviews-language and payment
Travel2be also offers special deals newsletter, wherein travellers just have to type in their email address and hit subscribe一to be subscribed. But please be extra careful on booking because some travel sites like this can be a hidden fraud. And we are right about that, by checking Travel2be reviews:

CONS
Travel2be Reviews-complaints

It wasn’t that hard to find several Travel2be reviews, since complaints are shown from end-to-end. In this review, we based our research from Trustpilot and we are really appalled with the Travel2be reviews shown there. Majority of the customers had even long paragraphs of complaints, some are even cursing Travel2be but most of them are bottomline not really happy booking with the travel site一they felt fooled. Can’t blame them, checking these Travel2be reviews, it’s quite noticeable that the complaints keep coming every day.

Check them out here.

Never Consider.

I was hoping for a better company description or at least an exact year when was the company founded, who are the founders, list some of their so-called passionate travellers and lastly stop fooling other people.  As mentioned above, Travel2be reviews alone are enough to convince us that this travel site is not the one you should be booking. I think I just wasted my time studying about this Spanish-based travel company, but at least this review will be a great help to warn you, to STAY AWAY from Travel2be!

Air Nostrum Reviews

Air Nostrum is also known as Iberia Regional, since it’s the regional airline of Iberia (largest and flag carrier of Spain). The independent carrier traces its roots back in 1994, in Valencia where it was initially known as “Líneas Aéreas del Mediterraneo” and they signed an agreement with Iberia in 1997 to be a branch of Iberia. Through that, the regional partner of Iberia and an affiliate member of the Oneworld airline alliance has a total fleet size of 39 ATR and Bombardier aircraft which has a high potential of growth in the future.
Air Nostrum Reviews-aircraftAir Nostrum operates from Barcelona Airport, Madrid-Barajas Airport and Valencia Airport that serves over 58 destinations internationally. There were only 3 incidents recorded in history and on a positive note they are all non-fatalistic just minor injuries.

On Board Service

Air Nostrum has only one kind of service offered on board: Business Class.

Air Nostrum Reviews-crewThe modern Business Class service inflight comes up with range of bonus and exclusive accommodation on board. Prior to boarding, separate check-in desks are provided, access to VIP rooms, increased luggage weight allowance and more Avios flight incentive points.

While on air, Air Nostrum Reviews-mealspassengers are offered with catering service, meals include local homemade bakery products, snacks, sandwiches and other Iberian products. To quench their thirst, customers had a wide selection from soft drinks, fruit juices, beer, wine, and spirits are also available.

Just so you know, Air Nostrum had received the “Mercury Award” for their inflight catering service by International Travel Catering Association.

Website Services

Since the regional airline is Spanish-based, the official website is in Spanish by default but there’s an option to change it to English by clicking the United Kingdom flag at the top right of the page. Unlike Iberia, Air Nostrum’s website is not that user-friendly. However, with patience we were able to find out that the site provides information regarding the airline’s policies, company information, on board services , leasing, trading and news.
Air Nostrum Reviews-page
The most essential part of the page is their main service to which customers can search and book for their preferred flight with Air Nostrum, either one way or roundtrip. Next to that, customers can be inspired with their current package deals to several destinations via flashing images. However, Air Nostrum doesn’t have a mobile app yet for all these services but we might be looking forward to this option in the near future.

Air Nostrum Reviews of Passengers

We are sad to inform you that Air Nostrum reviews are not as generous as they sound. On Airlinequality, they garnered an overall score of 6/10 based on 26 Air Nostrum reviews. But on the other side of the coin, these Air Nostrum reviews were actually mixed and the most recent ones are all positive and appreciative. Feel free to see these latest feedback of passengers, click here.

Overview

Air Nostrum had been doing a pretty good job ever since, but maybe a little polishing with everything and innovation will help them raise their ranks up from the world’s top 100 airlines. The Iberia regional had been creating a great reputation while maintaining a good standing over these years. But if you had experienced something not similar to what was mentioned above, feel free to share your experience below.

Since it has been a year, we will be starting to write new reviews about the travel sites we once wrote about last year, just to give you a heads up of the current status or changes of a particular online travel agency. Things can change in a span of a year, that’s why we decided on re-writing some of the written travel search engines and give you the freshest feedback for 2016.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Opodo.

Opodo Reviews 2016
The pan-European travel site was founded in June 2011 by an association of several European airlines including Air France, Austrian Airlines, Alitalia, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, KLM and Lufthansa. Opodo has its registered office at Villanueva, 29, 28001, Madrid, Spain but is actually headquartered in London, United Kingdom and 12 other brand sites. 99.4% of the travel company is owned by Amadeus IT Group and also a member of European e-travel group, ODIGEO since 2011.
Opodo Reviews 2016-owner
The first leader of Opodo was Mr. Giovanni Bisignani, who was the former CEO of Alitalia and current CEO of IATA (International Air Transport Association).

Now lets see what is Opodo’s functionality:

How does Opodo work?
Basically, if you access Opodo it’s easy to navigate because it promptly shows the option to search for the customer’s desired destination, either one-way or multi-stop. Recently, Opodo offers up to 20% saving if travellers will book a flight with a hotel reservation. The option for booking hotel reservations is based from 855,000 plus hotels worldwide. Opodo will initially let customers choose what kind of payment method they prefer prior to searching.
Opodo Reviews 2016-page
However, given the strong side of the overall service of the page, the Opodo reviews 2016 were the main reason why we decide to write a review about them.

Opodo Reviews 2016 from Consumers
Since then Opodo had always been receiving poor comments from consumers. This overall rating got worse now. On SiteJabber, Opodo reviews 2016 show that the travel site had garnered a 0.1/5 score rating. What’s worst is the same concern was not solved. The reason why Opodo had been consistently receiving negative feedback is because some booking were not actually reserved with the airline and hotels. When you try to reach them, they are often unreachable. Customers consider themselves lucky if they’ll receive a response via email after a month long.
Opodo Reviews 2016-logo
How To Reach Them?

  • Head Office Address:       Waterfront building, Hammersmith Embankment,
                                            Chancellor’s Road W6 9RU London, UK

Points To Reconsider
Well in that case, it is safe to say that Opodo Customer Care Team lacks the ability to be responsive towards consumers’ concerns. This is in fact proven by a lot of Opodo reviews 2016 showing online and continuously adding up everyday. This review is somehow a reminder for travellers who are planning to book with Opodo. Stay away with them. Unless you are a hundred percent sure they won’t fake your booking and they won’t leave you hanging.
