Since it has been a year, we will be starting to write new reviews about the travel sites we once wrote about last year, just to give you a heads up of the current status or changes of a particular online travel agency. Things can change in a span of a year, that’s why we decided on re-writing some of the written travel search engines and give you the freshest feedback for 2016.

In this review, we will be re-talking about AirGorilla.

AirGorilla Reviews 2016
Almost last year we wrote a review about the American based travel site. Like our weekly mantra we’ll be checking out AirGorilla as well. As we recall, AirGorilla was established in February 2001 and for some reason the only information regarding their main office is “San Diego, CA, United States”. We think that’s too general. Apart from the contact information we gathered below, the only way to access AirGorilla is only through the page itself. Not safe at all.

How does Travelocity work?
However, AirGorilla had finally updated their interface. Yes, finally. Though the services are similar with the old one. Pretty standard search, compare and book. Now, it also gives a list of other online travel agencies customers can search on, shown at the right wing of the page.
In this review, we tried making a search using from Boston, MA to Amsterdam, Netherlands on 04/11/2016 to 04/15/2016. AirGorilla provides two pages of searches, one directly from its 100 airline searches and the second page was for more searches using other travel sites. As we observed, it’s cheaper to book with the other sites unmentioned. Take note, they are NOT a BBB accredited business.

Are you wondering too how’s the AirGorilla reviews 2016? Well, we checked on TripAdvisor forums and it’s not doing any good since then. Once a bait and switch company and still a fraud till now. New customers are having similar complaints as the old consumers about booking for a particular listed airfare deal which once paid, will be shown as sold out and not available. As to one reviewer said:

“I visited this website twice looking for airfare, and when I went to pay, I was told the fare quoted was no longer available. Both times I was shown a low enough airfare that I was willing to pay for when the search originally started, but they were not willing to accept payment when finalizing the transaction.”

AirGorilla promptly says “Discover AirGorilla” today. I guess, we had discovered them a long time ago. On a positive note, yes they had changed and upgraded their page’s layout. However, they failed to win back the hearts of their customers. The travel site once offered unique vacation and holiday deals but within a span of 1 year they were left out. Being unique is nice but consistency should be a mixture as well. A business won’t work without proper productivity.

Most people prefer something cheap, does that mean cheap service? “You get what you paid for,” does this statement apply to Online Travel Agencies? Yes and no. There are OTAs who manage to provide quality service and a cheap price, there are also those who didn’t provide good service and even demanded for extra cash.

AirGorilla was founded on February, 2001 in San Diego, California. The current CEO and owner of AirGorilla is John Garrett. The agency trusts their consolidators to provide cheap deals to customers.

What people are saying

There aren’t any recent online reviews for AirGorilla because they’re not as popular as many of the other reviews we’ve done on this site. Anyways, the reviews on TripAdvisor.com are not that good, this one guy warned customers to think before they do business with Air Gorilla. He said Air Gorilla has “poor customer service and bad billing practices.”

Another customer said AirGorilla is filled with “a bunch of monkeys,’ that’s cold. It seems that the deals they offer are misleading, for example, one customer was able to find a flight deal with the price he wanted, when he was about to reserve the flight, the deal was no longer available. He then found the same deal still available on Expedia.

The Website

The website is pretty standard, but the design and layout is unappealing. The font size is a little small, not all customers have perfect eyesight. Customers can book flights and other travel itinerary like hotel reservations on the website. AirGorilla also prioritize their hotel and car reservations for local travelers who are just looking for a place to stay and relax for days.

Simply write the destination you desire and where you’re coming from, the website immediately presents the cheapest available flights. Confirmation of flight status is also easy through the website. However, despite the convenience provided by the website, the interface itself is not good.

Customer Service

Their customer service functions 24/7 for emergency calls and enquiries. They provide a feedback section on their website and a FAQs page for general questions with answers, for easy access to information.

Unfortunately, some of the online reviews said that their customer service is poor.

One of their four slogans is “going bananas for discount travel,” simply being crazy for something is not always good. AirGorilla wasn’t able to fully provide the service they promised. Maybe they should tone down the entire “going bananas” idea and find ways to improve their entire service. AirGorilla seems to be the weird kid in the playground and he needs popularity real quick.
