Since it has been a year, we will be starting to write new reviews about the travel sites we once wrote about last year, just to give you a heads up of the current status or changes of a particular online travel agency. Things can change in a span of a year, that’s why we decided on re-writing some of the written travel search engines and give you the freshest feedback for 2016.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Airfarewatchdog.

Airfarewatchdog Reviews 2016-George Hobica

It’s given that Airfarewatchdog is not one of the popular or major travel sites around. It was quite confusing as well to determine how did they start and when. Mixed company descriptions are shown online pertaining that Airfarewatchdog was founded in 2005, 2006 and 1998. At least we can assure that their founder Mr. George Hobica is also their current president.

Mr. Hobica was a travel journalist focusing on consumer issues; he was also a Marketing Manager for a large multinational company. Apart from being the CEO of Airfarewatchdog, Hobica has been in the online travel industry for 9 years and counting.

How does Airfarewatchdog work?

The online travel agency’s name was inspired by the President’s pet dog that is no longer with him now. They believe, with the guidance from heaven, his dog helps in the growth of his travel company. As the name says, “Airfarewatchdog,” his pet watches or assists in searching for the best airfare deals.
As we noticed, the interface of Airfarewatchdog hadn’t changed a bit in a year. Though, we got to admit, they made the right choice of theme color which is pleasing to the eye. But, it gives me the notion that it’s similar to Skype in a lot of ways. For some reason, when we were trying to enter our location it overlaps the search result and we’re stuck there and can’t even select the airport we are flying from.
pageOn a positive note, Airfarewatchdog lets customers search, compare and book for flight deals and hotel reservations online. They also have a mobile version of all these service, though it’s available for Apple users only.

Airfarewatchdog Reviews 2016 from Consumers

To be honest it’s hard to determine the current status of Airfarewatchdog, but since we last wrote a review about them, new Airfarewatchdog reviews 2016 were added up. Based on SiteJabber, the travel site is in a bad shape with an overall rating of 1.9/5 stars.

Consumers who rated this search-and-compare-booking site to be one of the scam. Plus, the lack of customer service makes travellers not want to try to at least book with them. They don’t want to wait for an email or personally visit the office in New York if things go wrong. For them, it’s not worth the shot to book with Airfarewatchdog.
Airfarewatchdog Reviews 2016-logoHow To Reach Them?
If you are looking for a contact number to reach Airfarewatchdog, they have none. The best way to reach them is through their email for queries (questions@airfarewatchdog.com). Airfarewatchdog also provided their president’s email (george@airfarewatchdog.com) to be open to all kinds of concern with regards to the travel meta search engine. Their head office is actually located in New York, NY and here’s the exact location or address: 70 Battery Pl # 504, New York, NY 10280, United States.

As far as we are concerned, Airfarewatchdog hadn’t made any changes in a year. Despite the complaints they were receiving last year and this year, none of those are even acknowledged. I won’t be surprised if the travel site is not popular because it’s already left out from the others.

Airfarewatchdog Review

Online Travel agencies function very well with credible connections. An agency’s downfall may occur with a weak connection with their partners and customers. Connection is an essential source that should be nurtured all the time, literally and figuratively all the time.

Origins and Ownership

Airfarewatchdog was founded in 1998 by George Hobica. Hobica was a travel journalist focusing on consumer issues, he was also a Marketing Manager for a large Multinational company. Hobica is also the CEO of the company up to date, Hobica has been in the online travel industry for 8 years and counting.

What people are saying

Airfarewatchdog isn’t actually the most popular kid, there are minimal reviews for the agency. The most recent one is dated back in March, 2015. Unfortunately, the reviews are not that pleasant, the positive reviews are way back in 2011.

One traveler shared her experience regarding the credible deals provided by Airfarewatchdog, she considered the company to be well-operated and reliable. One thing to consider is that there are very few reviews like this one.

It’s hard to determine the current stature of Airfarewatchdog right now since there are not many reviews or forums about the agency.

Since Airfarewatchdog is the middle-man, their main purpose is to provide the cheapest and most reasonable deals for travelers. According to Travelsitecritic.com, Airfarewatchdog promotes affordable price rates. It is possible that Travelsitecritic is being bias, since there are negative reviews about the agency not fulfilling their goal to assist travelers, especially travelers on a budget.

The Website

The website design is pretty simple for travel service providers. Customers can look for flights with the lowest rate possible. They also provide hotel deals for travel itinerary by connecting the buyers (travelers) to the sellers (hotel companies). They present deals right on the homepage with their discounted price to make things easier for travelers.

“Airfarewatchdog” – Mobile Application

Think of it as a portable website for the agency. The same features included on the website applies to the application so customers can look for flights using their Iphones, because Android doesn’t provide the app.

Customer Service

Airfarewatchdog doesn’t provide phone support because they provide free service and low cost.

Customers can submit their questions, concerns and suggestions via email. The agency also has its own facebook page.

A FAQs page is included on their website for general questions and of course information for customers.

Their main office is located in New York, USA. There are 11 brilliant minds working for the agency and 1 dog (who is already in heaven).

Overall the company is doing well on its feet, but for how long? Their operation is lacking in many aspects especially with their customer service, major improvements are needed to be applied as soon as possible. Did you find this Airfarewatchdog Review informative? Feel free to leave your comments.
