Since it has been a year, we will be starting to write new reviews about the travel sites we once wrote about last year, just to give you a heads up of the current status or changes of a particular online travel agency. Things can change in a span of a year, that’s why we decided on re-writing some of the written travel search engines and give you the freshest feedback for 2016.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Airfare.

Airfare Reviews 2016

Founded in 1979, it had already booked millions of travelers to the destinations they desired. They established their website in 1996 to expand their travel service. Their main office is located in Washington DC, USA. They provide discounts for over 700 airlines, 30,000 hotels, and 25 car companies.

How does Airfare work?

pageAirfare hasn’t changed since the last time we wrote a review about them. The web page is still plain white and blue, but has a direct approach of what are the functionalities of the travel site.

Airfare.com provides cheap flights, cheap hotels reservations, and cheap tickets through its “discount airline consolidation” strategy. By buying in bulk, they are able to offer specially negotiated, deeply discounted airline tickets up to 70% off. But, what confused me was despite the said 70% discount, there’s another service, “Exclusive Airfare Discounts,” wherein customers have to join to receive the exclusive rates and more discounts after 70% off. This is not even reliable or convincing.

As we mentioned, basically, on Airfare, customers can search for flight deals and hotel accommodations as well. The bottom part of the page only shows a list of the cheapest and top airfare destinations and deals. Travellers can also check their social media sites by clicking on the links shown at the top right.

Airfare Reviews 2016 from Consumers

complaintsAfter reading through 316 Airfare reviews on ConsumerAffairs, the travel site hasn’t improved as well with how customers appreciate them. With a 1/5 star rating, Airfare had garnered more complaints this year than in 2015. Consumers are mainly complaining about unwanted and hidden charges shown in their bank statements and traced to Airfare.

Disappointment is how we generalized our experience after writing and discovering that Airfare hasn’t done any changes or progress since last year. Did they stop working already? Or, they don’t care less if they are not providing good quality service, but are just focusing on quantity in income? Which of which, Airfare is still in a bad shape and they should pay more attention to improve their web page and services.

Zürich Airport Reviews
Zürich Airport Reviews-swiss-watch
Do you know which country has not gone to war since 1505? How about the country where high-quality watches are made? More? Chocolate and Cheese. Yes, now you are right. We are talking about Switzerland. Zürich city which was founded by the Romans, lies in the north central part of this multilingual country (Italian, German, French and Romansh). Those are the facts that make Switzerland famous.

Let me give you one infamous trivia about this country. Since the economy of Switzerland is not dependent on government, the Swiss Bank can easily make secretive transactions and was, in fact, countlessly involved with black money stocks of people worldwide.

Zürich Airport Reviews of Passengers
According to 200 Zürich Airport reviews posted online on Skytrax, the airport has an average score of 5/10 which is not as bad as it sounds, since the recent comments are full of acknowledgement and appreciation over the organization of Zürich Airport. One traveler even said that “I once managed to go from the train to the gate in 8 minutes”. He also regards the airport for being spotlessly clean and incomparable to other airports.

Since we are traveling, call of nature or the necessity to use the restroom and shower room is inevitable. At Zürich Airport the toilets were kept clean. However, some feedback says that the restroom locations are not passenger-friendly. On a positive note, there are two shower facilities found in the following areas: Landside, Service Center, multi-storey car park 2, level 1 and Airside, Transit D, next to the day rooms. However, usage is not free. It costs CHF 15 which includes a bath towel, toiletries and a hair dryer.

For assistance, there are 5 information desks located throughout the airport and each are found near the Arrivals 1, Arrivals 2, Service Center Car Park 2, Check-in 2, Transfer and the Shopping Zone. The special assistance desks are located in the departure halls.

Zürich Airport Reviews-atmOther facilities are added to accommodate the needs of some travelers. These include four smokers’ lounges located at the landslide and eighteen at the airside. If a passenger is in need of medical or dental attention there are three clinics found at Prime Center 1 area which operate daily from 7:00AM – 8:30PM. Foreign exchange centers are located in both airside and landside which also include 24 hour-operated ATM currency dispensers.

There are 33 food establishments and several shops found inside the airport, but please be advised that although the airport is operational for 24 hours, the stores and establishments are not.

Yes, there’s Wifi at the Zürich Airport. However, it is only free for the first 60 minutes. This actually needs registration and confirmation code by SMS. If travelers wish to use the wifi after 60 minutes paid internet connection service, an additional time of 1 hour is at 6.90 CHF or unlimited access for 24 hours is at 14.90 CHF. Internet Kiosks are also found both at the landside and airside and free usage in the first 60 minutes.

The simplified way to explain how to get to the airport is by driving east along the A1 highway, if travelling from Glattbrugg, make sure to turn left at the junction and drive north to ZRH. The airport is located on the left hand side. For a broader direction from North, South, East and West, click here.

Location – Traffic – Service

Airport/Terminal Map
Zürich Airport Reviews-map

Past and Present: The idea of creating a commercial facility traces its roots back to 1921 when the first flight abroad was made in Switzerland. The federal department decided that the site will be at Zürich. The first-ever flight made in ZRH was in 1948 while the first terminal was opened in 1953. From then on, now Zürich Airport  has three designated terminals and three runways.

Future: As of now, Zürich Airport has 4 projects to expand or enhance their facilities services. To be more specific, here are the following:

Project “The Circle”: planning service centre or a multi-purpose hub for the airport which will be located a few steps away from the terminals. Project Terminal 2 upgrade: project redesigning the curbside lane and expansion to build more parking facilities.

What can we expect from the 6th ranker from the World’s Top 100 Airports? Zürich Airport had received several awards from different categories apart from being the Top 6. To see the full list, click here.

It is quite obvious that Zürich Airport has a lot to offer, because they are more than just an airport. They actually deserve an at least 8/10 rating from the overall facts that we gathered. Or maybe there are some few things that we need to discover on our own while at the airport to rank it as just average. Maybe because of the limited WIFI access? Who knows? AirFare Review

They say simplicity is always a good idea to apply to everything. Many travel agencies proved this statement, but there is a fine line between simplicity and plain. Take online travel sites for example, some of them are beautifully designed while others stick to simplicity, that way people might say, “this company probably focuses on their business rather than the appearance of their company site.” Everything still comes down to the way they do business, in the end a company’s brilliance is determined by their service not the way they designed their homepage.

Let’s see if Airfare managed to overwhelm everything with their great travel services.

AirFare was founded in 1979 and had already booked millions of travelers to the destination they desired. They established their website in 1996 to expand their travel service. The agency offers discounted deals up to 70% off.

What people are saying

Since this is an AirFare Review, let’s read some of the other reviews online by previous customers.

Upon reading some of the most recent reviews on Consumeraffairs.com, it is safe to say that AirFare is closing in on danger. There were several negative detailed reviews against the travel service of AirFare.

AirFare Homepage

One customer was frustrated when AirFare didn’t give him a refund the same day he booked his flight. Most travel agencies allow customers to avail for a refund within the day they booked their flight, instead, AirFare offered him a change fee for $750. Another issue about their refunding policy, some customers were charged with a processing fee by AirFare.

Their customer service was also attacked by customers for being too passive and not exerting any effort to assist customers at all. One customer said that the representative he talked to kept on talking without listening to what the customer had to say and then hung up the call.

On Yelp.com, AirFare was considered a scam and a fraud for their misleading deals. There were several instances wherein flights were cancelled without notifying the traveler. What’s up with AirFare?

The Website

AirFare Homepage (AirFare Review)
AirFare Homepage

Their website is pretty plain, with a sky as their background, “genius.” However, the interface is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Booking flights and hotels is no problem, the question is, will the entire process run smoothly with no complications? They call their flight+hotel package the “Air & Hotel Combo Package.”

They provide a list of their Top AirFare destinations and Cheapest flight deals. Checking flight status is also available, all you need is your reservation number and last name. They even include a page for job openings for their company. One more thing to consider, negative reviews don’t only appeal to customers but workers as well.

Customer Service

AirFare’s call center for phone support is open 24/7 for bookings and questions. They also have an email address for concerns and for customers who have lost their confirmation number. Everything is included in their “Contact” page, including a FAQs page for general questions therefore information.

Their main office is located in Washington DC, USA. They provide discounts for over 700 airlines, 30,000 hotels and 25 car companies.

Review Conclusion

AirFare is standing on thin ice, some of the negative reviews were very aggressive and properly explained. It is hard to recover, but maybe AirFare will find a way, maybe. Did you find this AirFare Review informative? Feel free to leave your comments.
