Since it has been a year, we will be starting to write new reviews about the travel sites we once wrote about last year, just to give you a heads up of the current status or changes of a particular online travel agency. Things can change within a year; that’s why we decided to rewrite about some of the travel search engines and give you the freshest feedback for 2016.

In this review, we will be re-talking about AirlineMeals.

AirlineMeals Reviews 2016

The travel site that provides “Nothing but airline food” was established in 2001 by a 40-year-old admirer of Turkish cuisines. Marco Hart showed appreciation over Turkish food and started to take pictures of his meals on board, since he’d been flying back and forth between Amsterdam and Turkey to visit his Turkish girlfriend. Then, sharing his meal photography to his friends at home aroused attention.
AirlineMeals Reviews 2016-page

It was during his free time at work, browsing through his album of inflight meals, that he thought of making a domain that will help frequent flyers (like him) share what an airline offers on board. He literally searched online for airline meals and stumbled upon only 20 images. He saved them and sought permission to use those images as part of his own web page, which is now more commonly known as “
AirlineMeals.

How Does AirlineMeals Work?

In 2002, AirlineMeals stopped its growth since there were no available images to add the site. The founder thought of seeking help from travellers to send images. This had boosted the development of AirlineMeals. Now, the travel site had been one of the most useful online references to determine what will a customer expect during their flight on a specific airline.

AirlineMeals Reviews 2016-reviewsBasically, the purpose of the travel company is not to earn money. AirlineMeals freely gives information on the airline’s meals on board. What makes it more accurate? Actual passengers like us are the ones who share pictures and snapshots of their current inflight meal.

And, as of today, AirlineMeals has over 720 airlines listed on their domain with a reference of 40,120 pictures which grows daily. The main page displays the most recent image of the inflight meal posted on their site. It also gives the option to check on the full review given by the actual sender of the image. Information include the date of flight, which airline, flight number, and aircraft model.

How To Reach Them?

Overview

AirlineMeals doesn’t disclose information regarding their head office or any contact number to call. Regarding that, Marco Hart doesn’t need customer service for the travel site since they don’t accept payment and no money or sale is involved. Like last year, the travel site doesn’t have reviews posted online. This is probably because AirlineMeals just gives us feedback about inflight food. Who would have thought someone will have the heart to actually give us an inflight menu right before you book with an airline.

In this review, we will be re-talking about smarTours.

smarTours Reviews 2016

Just as a review, SmarTours was established in 1996 with the aim to provide high quality, exciting group vacation tours to some of the most fascinating countries in the world at the lowest possible price. Since then, smarTours offers international airfare from the US via major scheduled airlines, deluxe and first class hotels by customers’ preference and convenience, travel inspirations, tourist attractions, and multi-lingual local guides.

How does smarTours work?

Looking at smarTours seems like looking at the same travel site 7 months ago. In short, nothing had changed. Apart from the new offers and package deals, their web page still looks the same. Similar to last year’s concern, the interface is not modernized and confusing to use. But, as noticeable, they are now celebrating their second decade of their travel service and they already had helped 150,000 loyal customers.
page
SmarTours is one of the million online travel agencies from the US and what makes them stand out? Well, to be honest, none. We are not trying to be harsh here, but smarTours is just a typical tour tool searcher and operator. It also entices tourists to see more of other destinations from just looking at their web page. They kept showing customer reviews on their main page, but no supporting evidences are showing that these aren’t just made up. Speaking of smarTours reviews 2016, let’s check the actual feedback from consumers.
complaints

smarTours Reviews 2016 from Consumers

According to several smarTours reviews 2016, the New York-based travel site is still garnering a lot of complaints not similar to last year but more about their services and their site’s functionalities. This kept customers wondering why they never made developments in spite of all the negative feedback and consumers’ suggestions showing every now and then. This left them in a turmoil and they considered smarTours is one of the travel scammers.

Overview

Undoubtedly, smarTours doesn’t care about how you think about them. They just keep on providing travel services. We see their vitality over all these issues they are encountering lately. However, keeping an eye close to all the customers’ consistent concerns isn’t healthy. This gravely affects the consumer-producer relationship in business. Maybe, smarTours should make some few developments that will favor some of their customers’ requests.

In this review, we will be re-talking about ParkSleepFly.

ParkSleepFly Reviews 2016

To remind you what’s the meaning of ParkSleepFly, it is actually Park at the hotel, Sleep soundly and Fly stress-free. The travel booking and reservation meta search engine traces its roots back to 2002 and also serves as the sister company of AirportParkingReservations. ParkSleepFly’s CEO is still Thomas Lombardi Jr., and under his leadership, both companies increased revenue by 215% after almost 5 years of annual revenue declines.

How does ParkSleepFly work?

pageIt is quite noticeable that ParkSleepFly had again updated their official website since the last time we wrote a review about them. Though, we just notice a few changes, such as their Trustpilot ratings and standing at the top center of the web page. While the search option was more focused on airports shown at the center, the bottom part of the page promotes the top cities with ParkSleepFly packages. In case customers want a more categorized search by popular US and Canadian airports, then the bottom part will be of help.

no mobile appUnfortunately, they still don’t have a mobile application version of their PC services. Some customers are actually complaining about it, because it’s somehow inconvenient for some. Though, there are other ways to get in touch with them or look more about them, which is actually through their social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+. But, for some reason the links to their social media are now missing on the new interface. I wonder why. Have they forgotten to put them?

ParkSleepFly Reviews 2016 from Customers

ParkSleepFly Reviews 2016-doubtEven if ParkSleepFly has an amazing leader to keep them on track, the ParkSleepFly reviews of customers haven’t been showing any coordination to the said company’s continuous success lately. Most of the consumers are surprised that they are overcharged, especially with the fact that ParkSleepFly is showing prices which are not similar to those in the payment process, and others are disappointed with their experiences of the services of ParkSleepFly.

On a positive note, given the other complaints over ParkSleepFly, on Trustpilot, the travel site had acquired a lot of feedback and positive ratings. To see more of their ParkSleepFly reviews 2016, click here.

Conclusion

Judging through the continuous development of ParkSleepFly, the online travel agency had been slow but steady in fixing their mistakes. Though, it is somehow doubtful that they got a lot of feedback. I hope the comments are not fraudulent or made up by them to increase their rating on TrustPilot. Problems with hidden charges are still showing on some ParkSleepFly reviews. It’s still your decision if you’ll be trusting them or not.

In this review, we will be re-talking about BeatTheBrochure.

BeatTheBrochure Reviews 2016

BeatTheBrochure was created under Truly Travel Ltd. in 2004, making Kumar Edara the President and Managing Director who had been doing most of the calls in 2005. The Indian travel entrepreneur was their asset then. The main office of BeatTheBrochure is located at Scottish Provident House with over 200 skilled employees behind the scene. It looks like their numbers are too many to be working in a single-floor small office.

How does BeatTheBrochure work?

Everything on the homepage seems to be enlarged to fully use the entire page space. However, some information is hard to find, because the layout design is a little cluttered.
BeatTheBrochure Reviews 2016-page
BeatTheBrochure offers categories for booking, wherein a customer can book a flight, hotel reservations, or a flight and hotel booking at the same time. Other functions include providing cheap flights, flight alterations, or cancellations; these can be processed through their customer service.

Their deals are divided by categories, which are the followng: the deal finder, holiday shortlist, and the perfect beach finder. Their target market is mostly vacationers looking for leisure.

BeatTheBrochure Reviews 2016 from Customers

There are not much BeatTheBrochure reviews 2016 shown online. But, the few ones had rated the travel site as a do-not-use-for-booking site. More specifically, some feedback are rating them between 1 or 2 out of 10 for their deceiving offers and deals. This has always been the problem of BeatTheBrochure. What’s more frustrating is they never acknowledge customers’ complaints.

BeatTheBrochure Reviews 2016-complaintsMoreover, it seems that BeatTheBrochure’s deal packages are not packages at all. One customer was confident that he would be able to pay for everything and only have to worry about packing his luggage. When he arrived at the airport, he was charged extra for baggage allowance; in the package deal provided by BeattheBrochure, everything was included. Another target for complaints is their customer service representatives; despite an open phone line for concerns, customers are having a difficult time reaching BeatTheBrochure. Is the company doing this on purpose? Because, there were several cases regarding this issue.

Conclusion

Price beat is a popular term in the online travel industry. The meaning behind it is simple: beat the price, gain something with low rates without sacrificing the quality, or rather, have your cake and eat it too!

BeattheBrochure hasn’t made a strong impact in the online travel industry; yet, they are already experiencing major operation difficulties. Something needs to be done quickly or their reputation will keep on declining as they lose more customers.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Agoda.

Agoda Reviews 2016

Agoda Reviews 2016-Robert Rosenstein
Robert Rosenstein

Agoda came from the idea of its founder, Michael Kenny, in 1997 after he saw the potential of the Internet for travel services. One of the largest hotel booking sites now was originally established in 2007 in Thailand. Though, Agoda Company Pte Ltd. was acquired by The Priceline Group making them their parent company. The Singaporean online hotel reservation site and registered trademark of AGIP was founded by Michael Kenny. The aim of the company is to provide hotel reservations mainly focusing on Asia Pacific.

Now, it’s managed by Agoda’s co-founder, Robert Rosenstein, since November 2015. The 49-year-old CEO of Agoda is an active investor in Internet startups and has held various positions in ecommerce and online media enterprises.

How does Agoda work?

Agoda is known for using the Merchant Model approach in the online travel industry, for collecting upfront payment for room nights booked. We noticed that Agoda had updated their official site and had modernized the layout of the web page.
page
But, this didn’t affect the functionality of Agoda. It actually made it more look like a professional travel site. Customers can switch the option of searching from Room to Flights or vice versa. For customers without any idea where to go, recommended explorations are shown below.Agoda Reviews 2016-mobile app
Agoda has a mobile app wherein customers can access the same services of the PC version on their mobile phones in iOS, Android, and Windows. The travel app lets travelers search, decide, book, and access information about Agoda. The recent update of the app really helped customers a lot in their own hand travel needs.

Agoda Reviews 2016 from Customers

Let’s take a closer look at what customers have to say about Agoda’s performance and services this year. It seems like the hotel booking site had been keen on developing their travel services. After reading several Agoda reviews, we are convinced that despite the discreet popularity of Agoda, it had ranked with major popular travel sites. They had been acknowledging complaints and suggestions.

Conclusion

We are impressed with the changes and improvement of Agoda so far. Good job to them! What’s nice about Agoda is they don’t just want to look good, but also they also want their customers to feel good about them. However, we failed to find recognition awarded to Agoda, but this doesn’t make them bad; though, it is still safe to do your own research before booking with any online travel agency.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Jetcost.

Jetcost Reviews 2016

Jetcost is one of the pioneer travel sites in Paris, France. Yes, it’s located in the world’s most visited destination in the world by lovers. Had the love of people reached Jetcost this year? Since it’s now operating for 10 years, let us see the development or progress of Jetcost in this travel industry.

How does Jetcost work?

Since they are a French-based travel site, the language is in French by default. The option to change the site to customers’ preferred language is located at the top right of the page. It’s noticeable that Jetcost had recently updated their web page. Check out our last review to see its old version. Let’s try to make a simple search to see how the new site functions:
page
While loading for results, Jetcost momentarily shows the listing of other travel sites offered by cheapest and as it loads, the result changes too. However, as we wait forever to see the finished search page, our whole internet browser crashed. Jetcost Reviews 2016-mobile appWhen we tried to do a similar search, it happened again. Maybe the site is just new that it’s still not functioning properly. Well, that’s bad, because that means it’s good as nothing for now.

Jetcost has a mobile application that customers find more reliable than the page itself. One consumer even said “Best travel and flight reservation app I used.” The travel app can be changed to 16 languages and shared to emails and social media accounts. It also offers the same services like the PC version. However, the app is only available for Android users.

Jetcost Reviews 2016 from Consumers

Jetcost Reviews 2016-not interestedIt seems like Jetcost is in a bad shape because they didn’t maintain their standing last year from customer feedback. Checking online, it’s easy to find Jetcost reviews, but the bad news is they’re not as positive as last year’s.  Customers stopped using Jetcost after first-and-last-time use. Some other potential customers booked with other travel sites instead after hearing the holocaust complaints massively being shared side-by-side in social media accounts. This had led Jetcost into a poor standing. I wonder how Jetcost is coping up lately?

Overview

We are glad that Jetcost heard our last review about their website not being modernized. It’s a good sign that they’re active over complaints and suggestions of others. This acknowledgement is their ray of hope to help them build the reputation they lost. Actually, Jetcost is not bad at all. It just needs to be more careful in dealing with customers. I still wonder why Jetcost doesn’t have a contact or fax number?

In this review, we will be re-talking about Hipmunk.

Hipmunk Reviews 2016

As we all know, the short history of Hipmunk was a creation by a nerd graduate from Massachusetts who published “The Missing Manual: AppleScript” as young as 16 years old and was the founder and CEO of Reddit. Yes, Adam Goldstein and Steve Huffman. The name itself actually didn’t come up from an “aha moment,” yet was continuously being discussed before being finalized as a chipmunk theme travel company.

How does Hipmunk work?

pageThe idea at first was to build a travel agency, one that would enable consumers to quickly make decisions based on an array of choices, including flights, hotels, cars, trains, and buses. As one of the founders said. “Our main philosophy, is that we want you to spend as little time on our site as possible with the least amount of pain.” That’s when Agony was created.

Agony, Hipmunk’s service, helps customers to book hassle-free flights by comparing not only the price but also the duration and number of stops for each flight into one single factor. This kind of searching is not yet copied by other agencies because Hipmunk’s Agony is an original. Hipmunk Reviews 2016-mobile appAgony is the service asset of the company.

Hipmunk has a mobile app up for their customer’s mobile phones. In this mobile app, customers are entitled to the same services as Hipmunk for PC, searching flights, hotel reservations, and car rentals. The app is included on Time’s 50 Best iPhone Apps.

Hipmunk Reviews 2016 from Customers

Hipmunk reviews are not as many as they are since we last wrote a review about them. They are actually getting a lot of recognition from consumers. On Feefo, Hipmunk reviews had an overall score of 95% while Forbes wrote an article about Hipmunk. But, some unpopular site still had shown similar complaints as to last year’s problem with deal overpricing.

I wonder why Hipmunk is not on SiteJabber or Trustpilot? Are they banned for spamming the two sites to gain balance positive reviews? If they are really one of the best, then there should be an explaining to this.

  • Contact Email:              contact@hipmunk.com

Conclusion

Even if it is known as one of the best travel sites in the world nowadays, it still puzzles me why Hipmunk only has email options to contact them. Why limit their customer service if complaints are continuously showing every now and then? I hope Hipmunk is not trying to minimize the volume of complaints by limiting their communication via email. Because, if that’s the case, then they are actually worse than scam.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Venere.

Venere  Reviews 2016

Venere must be a misspelled city of Italy (Venice) or a slang term for “Be Near”. Whatever has been the origin of the name itself, the fact about Venere rather than being a hotel, b&b, and apartment search engine is Venere was founded in 1995 by Marco Bellacci. Venere’s name was actually originated from Venus. As we noticed, Venere’ symbolic logo shows a similarity of the painting of “The Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli in the mid 1480s. Venus is known as the goddess of love and beauty; let’s see if the beauty of Venere had reached  the hearts of their consumers.
Venere Reviews 2016-page
Moving forward, Expedia bought and took over Venere in July 2008 after the retirement of the founder. Now, the management of Venere is under the CEO of Expedia, Dara Khosrowshahi, but not Expedia and Venere alone. He also operates over 150 booking travel sites such as Hotels.com, Hotwire, Egencia, and Trivago.

How does Venere work?

There’s no change made on Venere since the last time we checked their official site. The only change we noticed is the featured destination on their background, from Paris to Rome. Like the basics, Venere lets customers search for hotels deals by entering their preferred destination, hotel in mind, or by a landmark and address. But, if the customer doesn’t have any specific place to visit yet, they could use the option below for a random search from their latest hotel deals and offers.

Venere Reviews 2016-mobile app
The most popular cities known for their package deals are Rome, London, Paris, and Venice. Newsletter is their email subscription service wherein customers are given the option to subscribe and receive alerts and deals about Venere’s latest offers straight to their inbox, and save up to 50%.

Venere has a mobile app and it is the extended version of their services for customers who want to access these features mentioned above on their smartphones. The customers are entitled to see the hotel reviews by real guests, search for hotel reservations, b&b, and apartments, almost the same with the website itself. The Venere travel app is available for iOS and Android.

Venere Reviews 2016 from Consumers

On the side of customers’ concern nothing have changed, consumers are still all out on their complaints against Venere services. The same concern arises about bad experiences due to fake offers. Others focus more on complaining about not using this company because their customer service representatives are rude and unprofessional which lead users to advice other potential customers to stay away from Venere.

Overview

Not alone, the Venere reviews had made an impression to the online hotel and apartments search engine’s poor standing in the travel industry. But also, ever since the founder sold Venere to Expedia, there wasn’t much growth. How long will they last? I guess being bought by Expedia was a bad idea after all.

What can you say about Venere? Feel free to share your thoughts below!

In this review, we will be re-talking about FareGeek.

FareGeek Reviews 2016

conclusionFareGeek was founded in 2006 with the aim of providing airfares to Barcelona, Frankfurt, Delhi, Atlanta, Hong Kong, and various other international locations with other online travel agencies or those found on airline websites and we bet you will be surprised how often we beat their best airfare offers. Now, with their recent upgrade based on FareGeek reviews from customers, they created an even more flexible technology-enhanced booking with unique online features like the ability to book one-way, round-trip, or multi-city access to special services and choice of cabin classes.

How does FareGeek work?

To be honest, the overall layout of FareGeek doesn’t even consider as a creation of a geek. What made the site slightly enticing is the choice of background using the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. Promptly, it shows the site’s main features as searching for flights, hotel reservations, car rentals, and vacation packages. Live help option is shown on the left hand of the page and newsletter service on the right hand.
FareGeek Reviews 2016-page
FareGeek can be changed to three more languages from English to UK, Canadian, and Indian. The catchphrase of the company is, as it says, “Low fares, more options”. I don’t know why, but FareGeek reminds me of Lessno.

Mobile Application

The travel app of FareGeek seems to be reliable for it is available in the App Store and Google Play Store. They just recently made an update for iOS users and remain the same with Android versions. However, even if FareGeek provides options via mobile application – the same features and services like searching flights – the app was rated as “The worst app ever” and even considered as “Not great and unpolished”.
I hope this travel app is not just a formality.

FareGeek Reviews 2016 from Customers

The trusted review site SiteJabber had spoken the truth, FareGeek Reviews are showing a total score of only 37% positive. Well, it is quite obvious that FareGeek had a bad reputation with its consumers, for customers are not really satisfied and unhappy with it being terrible in terms of customer service and a rip off. One recent review shows a customer saying:

“Dealing with this company was the WORST. I’m usually really polite and calm with customer service representatives… but these arrogant, rude, unhelpful people had my blood bowling. Avoid them, trust me on this.”

Overview

Geek in terms of verb means “engage in or discuss computer-related tasks obsessively or with great attention to technical detail.” However, this doesn’t perfectly fit with what FareGeek does since their page seems to not be dealt with great attention to technical detail. Maybe the definition in terms of noun will apply, “an unfashionable or socially inept person.”

Feel free to be the judge, I am just stating an opinion here how this will help you in your future bookings with FareGeek.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Just The Ticket.

Just The Ticket Reviews 2016

Just The Ticket was founded in 1986 as a retail and corporate travel specialist. They are a proud member of Civil Aviation bonding scheme ATOL and International Air Transportation Association. Just The Ticket is currently headquartered in Marylebone Street, London. According to their company description, they provide excellent service with a team of professional staff. One thing noticeable about them is that they are proudly showing their membership in IATA and  the Civil Aviation Authority.

How does Just The Ticket Work?

Since the last time we wrote a review about Just The Ticket, they haven’t changed their interface ever since. It’s still not modernized and it’s quite complicated to navigate and use. In a nutshell, their overall layout is pretty plain, and I think that attribute is not good for the agency. There are a lot of ways they can improve their website through simple design and innovation.

pageMoreover, Just The Ticket offers various types of travel services including flights, city breaks, hotels, car hire, and more. A customer first needs to click the travel service he or she wants to avail of before going to the actual booking page. Most agencies these days include the booking page wherein customers need to fill out information like origin, destination, etc on their homepage. The site was developed by Adactus; it looks like there hasn’t been any development.

Just The Ticket also provides tailor made holidays and has specialist products, which include online brochures, where travelers will find an enormous choice of long-haul holidays. Unfortunately, Just The Ticket doesn’t have a mobile application for mobile services.

Just The Ticket Reviews 2016 From Consumers

There aren’t many reviews for Just The Ticket, but obviously, their site needs to be fixed. However, Just The Ticket might be providing excellent service to their customers; maybe they care more about customer satisfaction than fame? Or they don’t care about anything but just sales. We wouldn’t know, due to the no-progress even after a year of writing a review about them. The company slogan “The Discount Air Ticket Specialist” now doesn’t fit them.

Overview

It doesn’t seem like Just The Ticket has any plans to make an upgrade. Like really, they got a lot of room for improvement. We can’t expect a travel app from them, if their interface alone was left out from being noticed. On a positive note, they encourage clients to visit their office in London. They also have two separate phone lines to provide domestic and international travel services.
