Constellation of Starwoodhotels
This American online hotel and resort search engine was known as Starwood Lodging and was formed in 1991 in Chicago by the real estate acquisition company Starwood Capital to take advantage of certain tax breaks. From then on Starwoodhotels acquired the following renowned brands: St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Westin, Le Meridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft and Element. Those brands were the keystone of Starwoods to growth.

In 2005 the Starwoodhotel’s SPG program was voted the Program of the Year both in American and internationally, this happened during the 17th Annual Freddie Awards.

In 2011 Starwoodhotels was the first to join the Clean the World’s effort to promote a global hygiene revolution as a corporate partner. In the same year the current CEO and senior management moved to China as a reflection of Starwoodhotel’s global revolution. Through that, China was their second largest market after the United States.

The current Chief Executive Officer of Starwoodhotels, Mr. Adam Aron, is a 60 year old married American businessman from Philadelphia, PA with 35 years of experience in travel and tourism. He took over with intent to accelerate the company’s unit growth.

Customer Concerns
Scanning through the most recent Starwoodhotels reviews, the online hotel search engine is really in bad shape with their customers. One reviewer said “I have contacted the hotel by calling them and one of their customer care employees explained the reasons of the extra charges. I am not satisfied cause the front desk employee did not take the time to explain all the terms of the extra charges clearly. Once I checked out no one replied to my emails! Until I called then myself to get some answers.” she gave Starwoodhotels a 1 out 5 rating by consumeraffairs.com

Final Thoughts
You can’t really judge the book by it’s cover. I had to admit that Starwoodhote’s interface looks dull and boring however reading different Starwoodhotels reviews makes me realize that this American online search engine for hotels and resorts really did a good job since 1991. Let’s see if they’ll do the same if flights are added into their search options.

  1. I already used Starwoodhotels for my travelling needs. I got no problems dealing with them. The transaction was smooth. My flight was organized. However I just can’t accept the fact the price is not as what it is on their page. I hope I am not the only customer who noticed this.
