History of the Spirit
Spirit Airlines wasn’t an Airline company from the start. It started as “Clipper Trucking Company” in 1964 and grew up to be an airline service in 1980 as Charter One founded by Ned Homfeld.

On May 29, 1992 after the massive growth of Charter One the name was changed to Spirit Airlines. However in 2000 the airlines was fined with $67,000 for violating federal regulations on cabin, seat markings and placard. It took them 3 years to resume operating. The current President and Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Airlines since May 2006 is Mr. B. Ben Baldanza.

Spirit Airline’s’ main bases are at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The current fleet size of the airlines is 46: 42 Airbus A320-200 and 4 Airbus A321-200. Spirit Airlines plans to expand their fleet size by ordering 36 more Airbus A321-200, 11 more Airbus A320-200 and new 45 Airbus A320neo.

Recently, in February 2015, Spirit Airlines won the award for “Value Airline of the Year” by the 41st ATW Airlines Industry Achievement Awards happened in Washington DC.

How the Spirit serves?
Spirit Airlines only has one class of service in-flight however customers are entitled to grab their optional services, following:

Free Spirit is the frequent flyer program of the airlines. Customers who are members of this program are entitled to earn Miles per flight done with Spirit Airlines. Another option to earn more Miles is availing their loyalty card, Spirit Mastercard, with this card members are entitled with 2 Miles per dollar purchase.

$9 Fare Club, is the airlines service wherein club members save an average of $75 per booking, discounted airfares and vacation packages, 50% off from baggage over allowance.

In-flight meals are beverages and snacks which are available for purchase by a menu given by the flight attendants for them to look and decide.

The official website of Spirit Airlines is really catchy with it’s stunning sports-yellow and black color. Plus the font style of the words are informal but readable. The website’s language is interchangeable with English and Spanish with a click on the top right of the page.

The interface of the website, the layout of each section provides easy access for customers to manage their travel, check-in online and check flight status. The other sections gives customers the option to book a flight, book a hotel reservation, car rentals and cruise reservations. An image of the on going promotions the Spirit Airlines offers is flashing on the right hand of the page. Further down the page shows services of Spirit Airlines: $9 Fare Club, Spirit Mastercard and Free Spirit.

Spirit Airlines also has a mobile app for android-user customers. The app is only available in the Google Playstore to download. The mobile app’s features gives customers the access to book a flight, hotel reservations, car rentals and check flight status. However the app is getting a bad rating by the customers.

Spirit Feedback
In this Spirit Airline reviews, unfortunately the airline receives a lot of negative comments especially complains from customers. The airlines was rated with a 2 Star Airline by Skytrax. One recent review was published today and the reviewer said that she is really not happy with the airlines. First the engine failed when the aircraft left from Costa Rica it caused an hour delay. The plane arrived into Ft Lauderdale and had another 4 hours delay before it took off. The flight attendant didn’t show up and that cause another 90 minutes delay. She ended her review with “Never again will I fly Spirit Airlines” and gave the airlines a 1 out of 10 rating on Airlinequality.com.

My overall feels for the Spirit Airlines
In this Spirit Airlines reviews, despite the discrepancies and violation they have done in 2000 and even so in 2008 being the airlines with highest number of complaints per passenger and foul advertising campaigns within the past decade.. The airlines is really struggling to rise from that but good a thing about them is they are not giving up the fight they started. Feel free to leave a comment below!
