Mango Airlines SOC Ltd is a subsidiary of the South African Airways (SAA) founded on October 30th, 2006. Mango is a state-owned South African low-cost airline, therefore only provides domestic flights.

The current CEO is 39 years old, Nico Bezuidenhou born on November 30th, 1975. Bezuidenhou was the former CEO of SAA in 2013, he led the team to the establishment of an low-cost airline, which is Mango.

Online Reviews

Mango got a 7 out 10 star ranking on Airlinequality.com, most customers had a great experience with Mango according to the reviews.

Talking about seats, some customers who flew with both Kulula and Mango stated, that they would rather ride the spacious seats of Mango, rather than the uncomfortable seats of Kulula. Many passengers were shocked how wide and comfortable the seats were despite the company being a low-cost one.

Reviews also acknowledge the attentive and polite cabin crew who are always at the ready to provide assistance. Each airline is kept tidy according to most of the reviews.

Most of the complaints were about delayed flights, looks like Mango and Kulula have the same problem.

The website design is appealing with the orange color theme and user-friendly interface. Customers can book flights and manage them on the website. Their packages of flights+car rentals+hotel reservations is very popular among travelers with their affordable prices. Customers can avail for extra services on the “Manage Travel” page.

“Mango Airlines” – Mobile application

Their mobile application is only available for Android. Customers can easily check in, check flight status and manage their bookings through their smartphones. Another set of complaints were fired towards the mobile app. Customers were a little frustrated having to deal with continuous advertisements while using the app while others says that they can’t even use the app because it crashes every time they open it.

Customer Service

Mango has 24/7 traveller support with organized phone numbers for each service. The Mango website has their own FAQs page for easy access to information especially for individuals with disabilities like hearing impaired or muteness. The company also provides email support, wherein customers can subscribe with their email and receive updates about flight deals.

Services

Mango only offers economy class with spacious seats that can be reclined and extra legroom. Their aircraft have 186 seats and free WiFi is also available on most flights.

Foods and Beverages

Passengers can purchase a variety of foods, snacks and beverage on board. Their menu includes croissants, rolls, chips, chocolates, kiddie snacks, soft drinks and more.

Special Services

Pregnant guests are prioritized by attendants during the flight. Disabled guests are also given special treatment, all they have to do is fill out the Medical Request Form.

Baggage

All economy class passengers can bring one piece of carry-on with a maximum weight of 7kg and within specified dimensions (36cm x 23cm x 56cm). All luggage exceeding the weight requirement needs to be checked-in, Mango allows 20 kg weight for checked-in baggage per passenger.

Mango was named as the Best Low-Cost Airline in Africa for the second time by SkyTrax 2015. The airline was also the 7th best Airline in Africa according to Skytrax as well. Their headquarters is the OR Tambo International Airport located in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa. Their fleet size is a total of 9 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Mango is truly an expansion of success providing quality service for domestic flights. Their in-flight service is without a doubt amazing and very professional, Mango might even expand to provide international flights if their service is enhanced.
