London Stansted Airport Reviews

London Stansted Airport traces its roots back to 1943 and was used during World War II by the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Forces as a bomber airfield and as a major maintenance depot. After the war, it was taken over by the Air Ministry and was used for housing German prisoners of war. It was in 1946 when this establishment was finally used to provide air carrier services. In this review we’ll be looking at London Stansted Airport (STN)

London Stansted Airport’s Facilities

We had noticed the gradual ranking down of London Stansted Airport. On a positive note, let us share the different airport facilities at STN.

For gaming entertainment (big kids), Voyager Entertainment offers video games located at the land side and airside of the airport.

Location – Traffic – Service

The airport, owned by Manchester Airports Group, is situated 48km (30 miles) northeast of central London, in Essex.  STN is a base for a number of major European low-cost carriers, being the largest base for low-cost airline Ryanair with over 100 destinations served by the airline. It is the fourth busiest airport in the United Kingdom after Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. The international airport had accommodated a total of 22,519,178 passengers in 2015.

Unfortunately, the one-terminal international airport had garnered an overall score of 2/10 rating on Skytrax. The main problem of the airport is delayed flights due to late and early gate opening and closing. Some passengers had even stated that STN is an airport to avoid due to its very slow service and unorganized lanes. It is quite noticeable that the most recent feedback are actually negative.

Overview

We once wrote about London Heathrow Airport and who had thought that Heathrow remains on the 8th spot in the World’s Top 100 Airports in 2016, while Stansted went down to 95th from 73rd spot last year. Maybe STN should try to add a terminal to organize their flights and passenger traffic since customer concerns are more generalized to airports incapable of accommodating a lot of travellers.

  1. Nothing especially bad or good about the airport. What I don’t like with most London airports is that they’re far from the city and transportation costs a lot (and I mean a lot) even when it takes an extremely long time to reach the city centre. This one is no exception. Apart from that very “low-cost” feeling not the best airport to wait in but I had no problems there.
