Kempegowda International Airport Reviews
Let us talk about the land of dreams. Have you ever wondered why India was called the “Land of Dreams”? If we are talking about going there as a tourist, yes, India is a country with beautiful tourism and rich peaceful attractions. However, living there will be a different story. Poverty and Development are two things that India has to focus on. On a positive note, I consider them as the ultimate survivor. Now, let us check their international airport. In this review, we will see how travel services are done in Kempegowda International Airport.
Kempegowda International Airport Reviews of Travellers
Based on Skytrax and 65 Kempegowda International Airport reviews, the airport has a below average rating from customers. Travellers are frequently complaining about the lack of space to sit at the gate (inside); due to that, they are complaining about the airport’s vast space outside for gardens which consume a lot of space making the place narrow and resulting in congestion. Another review even ended his comment saying “The airport is just a scale up version of old airport mechanics.”
The Indian airport is operational for 24 hours and its facilities consist of:
For hygienic purposes showers are available in Kempegowda International Airport, however, they are found in the Plaza Premium Lounge. In case you need more cash to withdraw, cash machines or ATMs are found at the arrival halls and curbside.
Travellers stay connected with their loved ones by connecting to their free WiFi at the airport. Customers just have to initially register to receive the password to access the airport’s wireless fidelity.
There is a total of 37 food establishments throughout the airport, but not all 37 are operating 24 hours. Here is the list of the food establishments which are open 24/7 located at the international departures area-airside-Level 1:

Getting To and From the airport can be done by by bus, car rentals, taxi or train. If by driving from the city center (Bengaluru), head northwards along Ramana Maharshi Road (Bellary Road), proceed to NH7 from their airport; signs are shown on the motorway which is located off the BIAL Road and this will approximately take 50 minutes, plus allot an hour for traffic congestion.
If by bus, it is best to go with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, this bus company operates shuttle service from several cities in India to Kempegowda International Airport. From the airport, the nine routes’ intervals are at least 30 minutes.
If by taxi, companies like Megacabs, Karnakata Taxi and Meru will only drop off passengers in front of the terminal building. Travel time will depend on the traffic, approximately 2 hours or less than an hour and fares range from 600 to 900 rupees.
Location – Traffic – Service
The international airport of India is situated 40km (25 miles) from the country’s capital (Bengaluru) and is the primary hub of AirAsia India, Air Pegasus, Jet Airways and Deccan Charters, catering domestic and international routes. The Kempegowda International Airport has one runway, but can accommodate all types of aircraft. Last year, the airport had accommodated a total of 15,401,392 passengers and was ranked third busiest airport by passenger traffic in the country compared to the Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi) and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai).
Past and Present: Initially the airport traces its roots back to March 2008 as “Bengaluru International Airport” but due to delay in air traffic control the official inauguration date of airport was on May 24, 2008. However, in 2009 the name of the airport was changed to “Kempegowda International Airport” which actually follows the name of the founder of Bengaluru, Mr. Kempe Gowda I.
Future: It is stated above that the airline has only one runway and one terminal. In December 2015, they started a stage planning of a second runway and terminal, said by sources in the Infrastructure Development Department (IDD). This plan was actually due to the phenomenal growth of air passenger capacity to reach 18 million or more this year.

If you would base your thoughts from Kempegowda International Airport reviews you will be unsatisfied, but if you’ll briefly observe the overall performance and services of BLR, you will realize that the airport is just like its own country: surviving and improving.
Unlike other airports, the Kempegowda International Airport was just recently established, but they had already been ranked last year in the World’s Top 100 Airports of 2015 at the 64th spot. I guess it is better not to judge the airport, but I personally will recommend this airport over another airport in India.
