Hotwire.com was founded in 2000, the founding members are Karl Peterson, Eric Grosse, Gregg Brockway, and Spencer Rascoff. Expedia, being their parent company managed to provide Hotwire connections to major airlines in the world. To get started, Hotwire.com was funded $75 million by Texas Pacific Group.

Things are not looking good for Hotwire.com, the agency was rated 1 star on Trustpilot and Consumeraffairs. Customers are saying that Hotwire, is not that hot when it comes to deals. Some customers are convinced that Hotwire.com is not considerate, one instance for example, one guy managed to booked a flight, after checking the details for his flight he noticed that he made a mistake with the date. Hotwire refused to cooperate in changing the date, he swore that he would never book with Hotwire again. This one customer even recommended other agencies like Orbitz or Expedia.
Hotwire.com is pretty standard and for my personal description, a little casual. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? You decide.
Since cheap deals are presented on the homepage, customers can easily choose the flight they want and book it in minutes. The website allows you to manage your itinerary including hotel and car rental arrangements. The website allows customers to create their account to gain some benefits like quick updates for cheaper flights, you can also have your own travel “profiler” that saves your contact information, booking history, receipts and the names of your travel companions.
Hotwire has their own mobile application so you can access everything you need to from your phone about your itinerary. Smartphones are better especially for notifications about flights.
The internet-based travel agency is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA. Hotwire started with only 4 employees, now they have 300 employees working together.The San francisco business times named Hotwire as one of the best workplace in the bay area. In February 2009, Market Metrix Hospitality Index gave the Top Ranking Hotel Travel website to Hotwire for the seventh time in a row.
