Holiday Planet is said to be the number one online travel agency in Australia. Who stated that? Them. Well, Holiday Planet was actually founded in April 2001 by Alan Dodson, their current Managing Director, who was momentarily joined by their current Operations Director, Michael Croy. It has been said that Holiday Planet had now grown to  five internet sites across all key areas of leisure. In this review, we’ll be checking the credibility of Holiday Planet as they self-proclaim to be the most diversified travel site in Australia.

What is Holiday Planet?

To be honest, personally, I don’t like the overall interface of Holiday Planet. First, it’s not modernized. Second, it’s hard to navigate. I bet travellers who are technically challenged will give up and just use another Australian travel site than waste time figuring out how Holiday Planet works.

pageThey actually made the right choice for a holiday-theme color of blue and orange, but they didn’t maximize this. Maybe, just maybe, they could update their web page. Things might get a little bit better from their end. Because, “First impressions last”. If travellers won’t see that the travel site looks trustworthy, then they won’t even dare to search, compare and book.

Holiday Planet is a travel meta search engine wherein customers can search for flight deals, hotel reservations, holiday packages, cruises, coach, and car rental services. Insurance is also offered on Holiday Planet. However, when we tried to click it, it just directed us to a page where it says “Scheduled maintenance in progress. Our site is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance. We’ll be back up and running shortly.” Not really helping at all.

Unfortunately, Holiday Planet doesn’t have a mobile version of all these services. The only way to book online via smartphone is through web browsing or using a device’s Internet browser.

Holiday Planet Reviews of Consumers

“Experience the difference with Holiday Planet”. Customers did experience the difference though not on a positive note. What I mean to say is, based on Holiday Planet reviews, the Australian-based travel site is garnering a lot of complaints from its consumers. Customers are majorly talking about how Holiday Planet keeps charging them over a booking that was already cancelled or had never been placed. To some consumers who had successfully booked with them, hidden charges arose when they checked their bank statement. Someone said “It might be just additional $5-10, but it wasn’t part of the booked deal. It’s quite frustrating in a sense of honesty.”

Judging through the Holiday Planet reviews and facts we had gathered and considered, the Australian travel site can’t even match with STA Travel and Webjet. Now, it’s safe to assume that Holiday Planet was left out and certainly not the best travel site in Australia or credible enough to compete globally. Alan Dodson and Michael Croy should give more time to upgrade their travel company’s service and engine. Who knows, we might see a new Holiday Planet in 2017.

  3. My wife and I have just completed a holiday package, done through Holiday Planet’s Perth (Australia) office. The agent we dealt with, Faye Mher, told blatant lies to gain our business. On our return I lodged a complaint and the office manager, a Mr Alan Dodson, covered for the consultant Mher and even made threats about bringing in their “legal team” in order scare me off.

    We have travelled extensively and this experience with Holiday Planet is our worst ever. I urge anyone who may book through this body get everything, and I repeat, everything down in writing as they lied, lied and lied to us – obviously to gain sales commission by the consultant and a profit by the business.

    Those I dealt with have a low level of ethics and integrity.

  4. Holiday Planet is the worst travel agency I have had the misfortune to deal with in my many years of travel. I was told lies and because I didn’t read the small print the company just thumbs their nose at me. I will never deal with them again and will pass on my bad experience to all my friends and associates.

  5. I am so angry with this company, all they did was send 4 email, when i asked for one thing. Oh sorry we dont organize the shuttle bus catch a cab. We didnt want to do that. This is my first time going on a holiday and i will never book tickets on line again. What i dont understand is the price for the tickets are the same as if we did it person or online. So for 4 emails you get the same as if i got service from a person at a travel agent who will go above to give you get service. Never again as the saying goes, you learn by your mistake. This is one mistake that i have learnt….
