Although, expect some of them are really expensive, wherein tourists often end up at McDonalds. ATMs, a bank, and a foreign currency exchange service are all located in the terminal building.

From Guangzhou city centre, take the S41 northbound, which leads directly to the terminal. The total drive time from Guangzhou to the airport is approximately 35 minutes.

By bus, several frequent Airport Express bus routes link Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport with numerous destinations in central Guangzhou.

By taxi, fixed-fare taxis are available outside the arrivals areas. But the journey time will take 30-60 minutes and fares average around ¥120.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is situated 28 km (17 miles) north of Guangzhou city centre. It straddles the border of the northern Renhe Town in the district of Baiyun and Xinhua Town in the district of Huadu. This airport features direct metro access to Guangzhou.

CAN serves as the primary hub for China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, FedEx Express and 9 Air. Since Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the 3rd busiest airport in China and 17th in the world, statistic shows that the airport had accommodated 55,201,915 passengers last year.

CAN has only one terminal though a new terminal is scheduled to open within the airport by 2018.

Overview

We do hope Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport will look into its customer’s concerns. I hope as well it’s part of their development in 2018 to do something about it. Maybe this has been the same reason why the airport ranked down this year in the World’s Top 100 Airports, from being 66th last year to 85th this year.

  1. Total disorganisation meets you upon arrival – the Chinese have no concept of Transit Passengers so everyone has to Book Out and then Book In! China Southern staff then brought Passports and Boarding Cards for the onward journey to Manila – they did not speak English and it took 10 minutes to distribute three Passports.
