Germania, a private airline based and headquartered in Berlin, Germany, was founded in April 1978, commencing operations on September 5, 1978 with a Fokker F-27. Originally known as Special Air Transport or SAT adopting the IATA code ST, the airline company changed its name to Germania on June 1, 1986.
The airline operated charter services for TUI, Condor, and Neckermann Reisen, earning its reputation in this field for their low prices. Bremen Airport, Dresden Airport, Düsseldorf Airport, Erfurt-Weimar Airport, Hamburg Airport, and Münster Osnabrück Airport are focus cities of Germania. As of November 2016, Germania’s fleet is composed of 8 Airbus A319-100, 4 Airbus A321-200, and 10 Boeing 737-700. Karsten Balke has been Germania’s CEO in position since October 2014.
