Firefly Airline Reviews
Firefly is not an online travel agency but is the low-cost subsidiary airline of Malaysia Airlines for scheduled domestic services. The first community airline was established in April 2007 and had its first inaugural flight from Penang to Kota Bharu. Even though Firefly is a full subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines it also focuses on servicing routes to Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Passengers who frequently fly with Firefly are being rewarded with miles as a member of their Enrich (miles program).
As their company logo says “Beyond Convenience”, the orange themed airline has 19 aircraft in fleet consisting of (12) ATR 72-500 and (7) ATR 72-600. These aircraft are enough to cater service to 19 destinations (as mentioned above) within Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. The airline operates from two hubs: Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport and Penang International Airport.
As we noticed, Firefly uses the greater than sign (>) on their company slogan as “B>yond Convenience” and that is obviously self explanatory why. Firefly has one type of service on board and this only service offers a range of exclusive airline accommodation while on air. Passengers are served with a complimentary meal and drink which has never been a complaint with previous customers.
For a low-cost airline the legroom space was not spacious but enough. Another good thing about Firefly is, there were no record of any incident or accident happened. So it’s very safe to fly with them. This gives them more points as an airline company.

Firefly’s website page is modernized and easily understood. The orange and yellow colors leaves a summery and bright mood to its users. The flashing image as background promotes their current package deals and Malaysia’s tourism. On their official website, customers can search and book for flights and hotel reservations. They can also manage their booking and check-in online.
And yes, as expected. Firefly has mobile app which is available on both from the App Store and Google Play Store. The mobile version of services is pretty much similar to its PC version, wherein travellers can book a flight, manage their booking, check-in and access their boarding pass by just using their smartphones.

According to 49 Firefly Airline reviews, the airline had scored 7/10 on Skytrax. Thought it’s above the average score, mixed Firefly Airline reviews are being posted online regarding the inflight services of the low-cost subsidiary airline of MAS. “The plane was less noisy than I expected. Cabin staff was extremely professional and attentive.
The big drawback of this airline is the number of flights cancelled. Despite being a very good quality low-cost airline, it might be unsuitable to those who have time constraints.”

If I’ll be the one writing a review on Skytrax, I might give them a 8/10 score based on what we gathered and learned about Firefly. Well I haven’t flew with them, so I won’t finalize my score for them yet. But they piqued my interest and I will certainly fly with them once I visit the country of Malaysia soon this year. Besides, they are only a new airline, we shouldn’t be expecting something big within just a few years of operating.
