Collett Woolman

“Running an airline is like having a baby; fun to conceive, but hell to deliver.” Collet Woolman said. He was the founder of the major airline in America. Did you know that he didn’t just founded the airline? He also did all means to buy it from the US Department of Agriculture. Curious how that happened? Then join me as we witness the story of this majestic airline in the United States.

The Beginning
Delta Air Lines traces its roots back in the 30th of May 1924 as Huff Daland Dusters Inc., by Mr. Coad and Mr. Collett Woolman in Macon, Georgia in 1928. During that time, Mr. Woolman successfully bought the air service. How? He left them, but to raise a capital by establishing crop-dusting and passenger service outside the US, particularly in Peru. After acquiring the company, he changed the name to Delta Air Service. The word “Delta” was derived from Mississippi Delta. The airline became the first in the US to operate the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 in 1990.

Delta Air Lines Reviews of Passengers
As the adage says: “You can’t have it all’. After reading various Delta Air Lines reviews, customers appear to be disappointed or maybe over-expectant due to the fame of the airline; from its awards down to recommendations. However, the Delta Air Lines reviews are showing a different story. One passenger even commented that the airline has a “terrible system with no value”.

Another reviewer said “Flight from San Diego to San Jose was delayed only 15 minutes, but then no notification was given to anyone until after 15 minutes. Not even an explanation, no help, no offer of a refund or trying to find us another flight or alternative. My husband and I, almost missed our jobs early the next day. Customer service is absolutely horrendous at both bag check in and ticket counter. Will never fly Delta Air Lines again.”

In The End
Based on various Delta Air Lines Reviews, the company is one of the most famous airlines in the travel industry. However, what bugs me is the fact that their customer service is not as consistent as their business. Just so you know, Delta Air Lines ranks as the 45th spot in The World’s Top 100 Airlines according to Skytrax’s World Travel Awards 2015.

  1. Flew Delta Connection (ExpressJet) from Gainesville Florida to Atlanta. Flight was on time and actually arrived ahead of schedule. ExpressJet (DBA Delta Connection) much better than when ASA flew this route as Delta Connection.
