Background and History

Citilink is an Indonesian low-cost airline headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia with a main hub located at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya, East Java. “Better fly, Citilink” is Citilink’s company slogan.

The airline traces their foundation to 2001 when they were formed as a low-cost subsidiary of their parent company Garuda Indonesia. In the first quarter of 2012, Citilink began operating as a separate business entity from Garuda Indonesia, complete with a brand overhaul from their livery, official website, cabin crew uniform, and cabin interiors. The plan is for Citilink to be a regional airline that would eventually contribute 30% of the revenue of Garuda Indonesia. Citilink obtained their Air Operator’s Certificate in August 2012.

Based on 18 Citilink reviews on reviews website Airlinequality, Citilink was given a 7 out of 10-star rating. Mostly, the airline’s cabin crew friendliness made passengers feel comfortable onboard: “Flight attendants were very courteous and polite, and they were also very helpful. We paid for our meals but turns out for drinks we also have to pay extra on board, and it is cash only. Restrooms were kept clean throughout the trip. Flight deck communication was adequate; we were given informations on flight time and altitude before we take off, and arrival time and Bandung weather before we land. Delightfully surprised that their hard and soft products were better than expected for a low cost carrier and if they are as aggressive in their expansion, they can give Air Asia a run for their money.”Citilink Reviews 2017 customer service
