Asiana Airlines was founded on February 17th, 1988, but their operation commenced in December, 1988.The founding company of Asiana is Kumho Asiana Group and its former name was Seoul Air International.
On January 1st, 2014, Soo-Cheon Kim became the CEO of Asiana. Kim has been serving Asiana since 1988, he started out working for the sales office, Kim is also the President of Asiana.
On airlinequality.com, Asiana got eight out of ten points from online reviews. Asiana’s staff service took the spotlight, receiving 5-stars from most reviews. One of the customers showed his gratitude towards the staff at the gate for their help and consideration. The staff on board were polite and attentive according to the reviews.
There were complaints about Asiana’s website being hard to navigate. This one particular guy gave Asiana one point, but he rated the staff service 4-star. According to him, there are some weak spots mostly on their website, but their competent staff makes up for it.
Customers were also delighted with the food service, seat comfort and Asiana’s value for money.
Asiana got the same level of appreciation on TripAdvisor.com, the airline got 88% for recommendation.

The First Suite Class
Each suite is built with two sliding doors for a more private experience. Each seat can be converted to a 210cm full flat bed for a better slumber at night. Each suite has a mini bar and mood lighting for each passenger to control the ambiance according to their liking. There are also extra seats for each suite, so passengers can converse.
Passengers in this class have to choose from a variety of Korean royal foods and western dishes developed by La Cucina and prepared by chefs on-board. Wines, coffees and other drinks are also served to all passengers. Amenity kits containing cosmetics, loungewear, mat, spread and pillow are distributed to each passenger to fully indulge to the Asiana Experience.
The First Class
Passengers in first class can relax on a seat that can be recline up to 180-degree and can be converted to a bed with 83 inch wide seat space.
Passengers have the opportunity to satisfy their hunger with the authenticity of Royal korean food during their journey. They can watch their favorite movies, documentaries, listen to different types of music and play fun games. Loungewear, cosmetics, bathroom utilities and medical kits are given to each passenger to feel more convenience while flying at least 40,000 feet from the ground.
The Business Smartium Class
Staggered seats with a 180-reclining feature offers the perfect comfort while waiting for your flight to land in the Business Smartium class. To reduce unnecessary movements, each passenger has direct access to the aisle to loosen up or greet other passengers. The business smartium class offers a selection of foods from Korea and western countries. There are also amenity kits including cosmetics and sleeping kits.

The Economy Class

First class and Business class passengers can bring two piece of 10kg luggage with less than 115 cm. The same allowance applies to economy passengers but are only allowed to carry one piece each.

Asiana is the second largest airline in South Korea after Korean Air, but Asiana is a 5-star airline but is only rated 4-star. Looks like every man and woman working for Asiana is dedicated to providing excellent service. It’s a mystery why Asiana got demoted to the 11th rank from 8th by SkyTrax.
