Air Moldova Reviews
Air Moldova started back in 1944 when the Moldovan Independent Squadron was established with fifteen aircraft Po-2 biplanes and two Li-2 aircraft. It was in 1960 when the civil aviation of Moldova expanded from the development of the local airline industry and the new airport in Chișinău. New An-10, An-12 and An-24 aircraft were added to their fleet..
Moving forward, to mark the official beginning of the airline, it’s actually in 1993 with the aim of targeting the international market. No worries, because Air Moldova is an IATA member and had received the IOSA operator certificate.
Now, Air Moldova is still based at Chișinău International Airport with a growing fleet size of 6 Airbus and Embraer aircrafts catering destinations to European metropolitan and seasonal charter flights to Bulgaria, Egypt, Greece and Turkey. The national airline of Moldova follows a codeshare agreement with S7 Airlines, UTair Aviation, Ukraine International Airlines and Meridiana.
Flying the Air Moldova way
There are two classes of services on board with Air Moldova: Economy and Business. But regardless of the service selection, all passengers are treated with high level and quality service. Economy Class customers are offered with a variety of drinks such as wines and softdrinks. Meals are also served depending on the duration of their flight.
Business Class passengers will receive the same offering, but in addition to choosing this cabin class, customers are given a ticket for their reserved seat in a separate sector wherein the seat in the middle is left empty. This space is freely used by the customer when they need to. Air Moldova flies while carrying the company slogan “Born to fly” and they offer frequent flyer program, Air Moldova Club
Official Website and Mobile app
What impresses me is the page of the airlines is modernized, not like other major airlines that don’t even bother upgrading their official site, Air Moldova did make a good score on this. The site offers services to search and book flights and hotel reservations wherein customers can also select their preferred seat selection, manage booking online, access to receive SMS notification about flight status. Another good side of their services is, customers are not forced to pay via credit card online, because their payment option includes “Book online pay cash”.
What’s more on the page, Air Moldova is not selfish with just their airline services, information and policies, but also entice travellers to see different tourism on their city tour flashing images below. No worries, because they also offer the best prices, current news and newsletter services.
The flag carrier of Moldova had extended their travel services on smartphones. A travel app to access all the services on PC version through a Mobile version. The Air Moldova app is available on both App Store and Google Play Store.
Air Moldova Reviews of Passengers
As expected with Air Moldova, they scored a total of 6/10 out of 25 Air Moldova reviews. Let me share Peter’s experience who is a Canadian traveller who flew with Air Moldova from Chisinau to Vienna. His flight left and landed on-time. Onboard service consisted of 2 large and tasty sandwiches, accompanied by drinks (including alcoholic, which are rare on some European airlines). The seats were comfortable, plane was clean and the cabin crew were kind and helpful. He was even happy that his ticket didn’t cost that much for all these services he experienced. He gave the Air Moldova a 8/10 score for this review.

Air Moldova might not be part of the World’s Top 100 Airlines in 2015 on Skytrax but there’s no doubt that they are actually one of the best, even if not recognized internationally. Passengers do recommend this airline. Kudos to Air Moldova and its team. Feel free to leave a comment below.
