Air Europa’s story started initially as Air España SA in 1986 (registered in Spain) as part of the British ILG-Air Europe Group and was 75% owned by Spanish banks. They had a similar livery with Air Europe, but were able to create their own name in time. It was the first Spanish private company to operate national scheduled flights. Air Europa has been a member of SkyTeam since 2007.
Moving forward, Air Europa uses the slogan: “Your travel companion” with a fleet size of 59. The Spanish-based airline serves 44 international and domestic routes and follows codeshare agreements with Aerolíneas Argentinas, Korean Air, Etihad Airways and Air Serbia. Globalia owns (100% of) Air Europa making its Chairman, Mr. Juan José Hidalgo, the CEO of the third largest airline in Spain (next to Iberia and Vueling).
Flying with Air Europa
Air Europa provide scheduled network throughout Spain and to destinations in Asia, North and South America, Caribbean, Europe and North Africa with two cabin classes: Economy and Business.
Economy Class – passengers are not being provided with low quality service in this cabin. Instead provided with good space between seats and baggage allowance with with a maximum weight of 23 kg. Food varies in between European and famous Spanish cuisines. Dietary meals are also offered. Quality entertainment is by offering a range of national and international newspapers and a selection of magazines. Inflight shopping catalogues are given as well.
Business Class – passengers are given the utmost support and assistance at all times. Since in this cabin class, customers are given a different kind of privilege with VIP insurance assistance, access to VIP lounges, exclusive check-in desks, baggage handling and unloading, four course meals served on air, plus ergonomically-designed seats. Inflight entertainment offers customers a wide selection of newspapers and magazines and an advanced video system with extensive content.

Is this Windows 8 or 10? None of the above. The official page of Air Europa was carefully designed to entice travellers to give them the impression of a modernized business with calm effect. The blue-themed site shows flashing images as background for several top destinations in the world. Scrolling down gives more information about special assistance of information over special services and the frequent flyer program, Air Europa SUMA.
The page doesn’t end there and the bottom part provides more about the airline’s services, social media accounts, policies and contact information. Air Europa doesn’t let customers book flights, but also offers car rental services for transportation purposes. Travellers can also check-in and manage their booking online. The site can also be changed to 5 other languages aside from English.
Air Europa’s mobile or travel app lets customers book using their smartphones, seat selection, real time flight information, share and obtain boarding at the palm of their hand. In a nutshell, it’s the mobile version of their PC services. Available on the App, Play and Windows Store.

However, given the generosity of the PC and inflight services of the airline, based on 221 Air Europa reviews, they scored an overall rating of 4/10 which means there are more negative reviews more than the positive ones. It is hard to think this airline had garnered below average Air Europa reviews. Are they just another pretty-face travel company or are customers just not being appreciative with what they provide? But compared to other airlines, I think Air Europa is worth the shot since it’s good at maintenance. Maybe they just need to fix some loose ends and be a little more understanding to customer’s comments.
