Agoda came from the idea of its founder, Michael Kenny, in 1997 after he saw the potential of the Internet for travel services. One of the largest hotel booking sites now was originally established in 2007 in Thailand. Though, Agoda Company Pte Ltd. was acquired by The Priceline Group making them their parent company. The Singaporean online hotel reservation site and registered trademark of AGIP was founded by Michael Kenny. The aim of the company is to provide hotel reservations mainly focusing on Asia Pacific.

Now, it’s managed by Agoda’s co-founder, Robert Rosenstein, since November 2015. The 49-year-old CEO of Agoda is an active investor in Internet startups and has held various positions in ecommerce and online media enterprises.

How does Agoda work?

Agoda is known for using the Merchant Model approach in the online travel industry, for collecting upfront payment for room nights booked. We noticed that Agoda had updated their official site and had modernized the layout of the web page.

But, this didn’t affect the functionality of Agoda. It actually made it more look like a professional travel site. Customers can switch the option of searching from Room to Flights or vice versa. Agoda has a mobile app wherein customers can access the same services of the PC version on their mobile phones in iOS, Android, and Windows. The travel app lets travelers search, decide, book, and access information about Agoda. The recent update of the app really helped customers a lot in their own hand travel needs.

Conclusion

We are impressed with the changes and improvement of Agoda so far. Good job to them! What’s nice about Agoda is they don’t just want to look good, but also they also want their customers to feel good about them. However, we failed to find recognition awarded to Agoda, but this doesn’t make them bad; though, it is still safe to do your own research before booking with any online travel agency.
