Aer Lingus was founded on April 15, 1936 with £100,000 starting capital. The first chairman was Mr. Sean O’huadhaigh and he inaugurated the first flight of the airlines on May 27, 1936. The airlines really made a good start that recently they received the honor for the 61st spot in this year’s “The World’s Top 100 Airlines” by SkyTrax.

Aer Lingus is the national flag carrier of Ireland with a fleet size of 51 consisting of 4 Airbus A319, 33 Airbus A320, 3 Airbus A3321, 8 Airbus A330 and 3 Boeing 747. The airline is headquartered at Dublin Airport with the company slogan “Smart flies Aer Lingus”.

Aer Lingus means Air Fleet in Irish. This name was a suggestion of an aviation enthusiast and county cork surveyor, Mr. Richard O’Connor. The airlines now serves 82 destinations with more than 3,700 employees worldwide.

After 26 years in service with the airlines, the 47 year old Irish man with 10 years experience in marketing and advertising, Mr. Stephen Kavanagh is the new Chief Executive Officer of Aer Lingus.

Customer’s Complaints
I went to read some Aer Lingus reviews from AirlineRatings.com and Airlinequality.com and it seems like the airlines was recently having issues with their refunds, return flight arrangements and rebooking processes. One loyal customer said “Me and my family booked with Aer Lingus many times in a year between Amsterdam and Dublin. Now there is one flight that I couldn’t take. Rebooking costs more than booking a complete new flight. It’s sad that it doesn’t seem to be possible to arrange any kind of refund since I am a regular customer.” she gave the airline a 3/10 rating.

My Final Thoughts
Judging all the information I read from several Aer Lingus reviews, the airline might not be considered as one of the best airlines, however with the right pacing and wise decision making, Aer Lingus was able to maintain customer satisfactory service and didn’t rely on just luck.   1. I was on a trip with my soon-to-be wife, Charmaine. I really love the food on board, the crew were friendly and polite. My fiance was actually a tea lover and I was pleased when they aided her needs. Definitely gonna fly with Aer Lingus again and I hope to see them in a four leaf clover logo.
