Lion Air Reviews
Lion Air traces its roots back in October 1999 with two brothers, Rusdi and Kusnan Kirana, and initially started operations using a Boeing 737-200 catering services between Jakarta and Denpasar on the 30th of June 2000. Just so you know, this Indonesian airline has been the first low-cost carrier in Indonesia. The growth of Lion Air had been quick that in 3 years they were able to establish a subsidiary airline named “Wings Air” for lower-density routes. As we know, Garuda Indonesia was actually the first airline that joined IATA, but Lion Air is planning to join the trade association as well and is hoping to become the second IATA Indonesian member.
Now, Lion Air has a total fleet size of 104 consisting of 71 Boeing 737-900ER, 33 Boeing 737-800, 3 Airbus A330-300 and 2 Boeing 747-400 servicing more than 120 destinations: 100 domestic and 20 international routes. The Indonesian budget airline has four bases at Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda, Sultan Hasanuddin and Hang Nadim International Airports. Lion Air carries the livery “We make people fly” I wonder how? Lion Air Services
With Lion Air, customers have two cabin classes to select from; Economy and Business Class. In Economy Class, passengers are provided with their inflight menu to select from their variety of meals and beverages. Customers under this class are entitled up to 20 kg baggage allowance wherein in Business Class it’s 30 kg and was already included in the fare. Travelers have a designated seat with a pitch of 29 inches wherein in Business Class it’s 38 inches with greater recline.
Business Class passengers are entitled to lounge access and newspaper, pillows and blankets are offered inflight. However, Lion Air doesn’t provide any type of inflight entertainment while on board both classes.
Their website is simply red and not quite stylish, but easy to navigate. I noticed that the official site’s font size is too small and was even considered by other Lion Air reviews as “Too small to read by visually impaired”. On a positive note, the headings and information on the airline’s official website were organized neatly that it provides customers the option to search and compare for flights and even an option to manage or check their bookings. Another good side of Lion Air is that they have mobile services and it’s available both on the App Store and Google Play Store. The bottom part of the page gives a direct link to download the travel app.
Lion Air Reviews of Passengers
According to 69 Lion Air reviews, the airline doesn’t sound so accommodating. Since majority of the feedback are complaining about the overall customer service of Lion Air, it seems that Lion Air is not as pleasing as their services are. Some reviewers have commented about their delayed flights and cabin’s cleanliness. But one review really caught my attention:
“You think I would have learned my lesson after 90% or so of flights I have taken with Lion Air have been delayed. Now sitting on the floor in the crowded waiting lounge as no seats are available with another 2 hour delay, just announced at take off schedule. Not fun with 2 small children. Last month my return flight to Bali was delayed by 3 hours each way. Also don’t bother with trying to check in on the app. It does not work. I will never book with this airline again. Not worth the problems for the cheaper price.”

Initially, I was also impressed by the company description and the airline’s quick growth. However, halfway through this review, my faith for this low cost airline started fading due to several Lion Air reviews. I am glad that I was able to hear the side of the passengers. I wonder what Lion Air does to solve this? I don’t see any apologies in the comments of their customers. But in my honest opinion, I guess Lion Air should make some improvements, especially they just almost started and the maintenance is already not good. This lack of control will gravely affect them in the future.
